   Love having a stroll around yeadon tarn, what ever the weather (and it can be harsh up there). There is a car park either end with plenty of space and a small cafe to stop off at if you fancy a cuppa or bite to eat. There is a children's play area to the side of one of the car parks and a bike park (I don't think many know about this) next to the other one. There are lots of benches along the circular route if you need a break and a picnic area (for better weather). The airport is very close so you can watch the planes take off & land - really quite a spectacle. The tarn takes approx 20 mins to 'frog match' around or easily double that for a leisurely stroll. It's the base for a sailing club but Leeds city council own the site and regularly put on classes for watersports like sailing, canoeing, waterboard, windsurfing ect.. For adults and children alike, just look on their website. It has lots of resident wild birds along with some visiting rarer ones passing through. It's popular with dog walkers, joggers, leisurely walkers, children in prams ect. It's a little gem tucked away that you may have driven passed without realising it.

   Great little place to go for a walk by the water's edge. Plenty of activity including sailing and fishing going on, with aircraft departures and arrivals in the background. Free parking is a bonus too. Definitely recommended.

   Lovely around the little lake, with lots of people relaxing or jogging. If you want to see lots of water birds, diving around, this is the place to go!! Lots of dives and smaller birds. Green grass!! If you need to relax and just check out the sailing boats on the water, this is the place to go!

   Great dryish walk on a wet day. Flat surface and even path, suitable for all. Lots of shrubs, little ponds and interesting wildlife on the small lake here. There can be some big puddles and runoff. If you’re lucky you might see a plane takeoff or landing. 0.8 miles per lap and free car parking.

   A great fishing experience. I took my dad out for the day and we were made to feel really welcome with non of the stigma you get at some lakes. Booking was really easy and the bailiff and other fishermen gave us loads of info when we got there.

   One of the great things about living in Yeadon is the Tarn. Full of wildlife a nice waking and running area for people and dogs. There’s always people fishing and frequently people doing water sports like sailing. There’s a really good play park for the kids right next to it and always an ice cream van about.

   Good old fashioned Sunday afternoon out. Great for younger kids, plane spotters and (on the day we visited) sun bathing! The friendly geese appreciated a few crumbs. I knocked one star off because the toilets were shut.

   The ponds are located at the northern end of Tarnfield park , just off the main footpath around the Tarn itself. There is a sign which indicates a good diversity of Flora and Fauna ,however I get the impression it’s a bit of a neglected area.The footpath leading in next to the sign is ok and wheelchairs accessible but stops at the beautifully carved dragonfly seat .This is as far as I could go as any paths leading off were not maintained and were overgrown.Obviously there has been a lot of growth during the summer and nature really has taken back over .So much so I was unable to go anywhere else and see ponds. I could see some of the pond plants like bullrushes but no discernible ponds.Can be a nice quiet area to sit and contemplate if you can accept the occasional roar of engines as the planes take off/land next door at the airport.
