Nice place for walk around the reservoir, dog friendly. There's a second, smaller reservoir If you want a longer walk with nice views. I recommend.

Scammonden Reservoir is a great walking spot with scenic views and peaceful trails.

A small car park with direct access to the pathway to the waters edge. It has a high viewpoint so even if you don't do the walk, the views from the carpark are cool

Lovely walk, about 3 miles round with some hill climbing involved. Easy parking, very quiet, cute sculptures.

Not the most picturesque of reservoirs for walks but pleasant enough. I think both times I've been, the weather was "moody", which didn't help. Very popular with dog walkers, so if you're not keen on dogs, this may not be a relaxing experience for you.

Free car park in a great spot for a walk (even on a cold, haily boxing day!)

Easy and great hike, beautiful views and sounds of nature. My only issues is that if everyone who walks on the narrow paths with unleashed dogs.

This is the upper of two car parks and proffers substantial panoramic views of the reservoir and its environs, of Scammonden Bridge and of the motorway. Free to park here. Reasonable sized car park with disabled parking bays too. Car park open on weekends and on Bank Holidays. Various paths down. Has a map of Scammonden Water on the noticeboard, which you scan with one of those QR things if you are tech savvy and have a suitable device. So there are numbered marker posts and you can listen to the audio tracks. I didn't because I'm not and I don't, ha.

Great place with fantastic views. From the car park i took the path going away from the M62 and followed it straight until i hit the narrow road up a steep hill. I followed it to Deanhead reservoir, which is small but very pleasant , and gives a view of Scammonden. I joined a path which took me on a nature trail alongside Scammonden Reservoir. Eventually you get to the end of the reservoir and the M62. There is a tunnel under the motorway, turn right and another tunnel gets you on the opposite side. There are beautiful views everywhere. When the reservoir is low there almost appears to be a beach which you can walk on. There is even a sailing club, and a few boats were out in the beautiful weather. You could almost be in the Lake District, the reservoir and scenery is that stunning.
