Watermead Country Park is pleasant spot to enjoy tranquility. The lake at the Watermead Country Park offers a truly charming and pleasant view. It's wonderfully calming to watch the water with numerous ducks, swans and geese. That's a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll and to be with Nature.
There's a lot to see and lots of little trails around watermead. You can access via lots of different areas, there's many carparks. Lots of lakes to explore.
Wow! Only recently have I moved to Leicester and whilst looking for a park nearby to walk my dog I started visiting Watermead. When I say this park is enormous I'm not kidding! The park is full of variety, from woodland habitats to meadows, lakes, beautiful canals and even some free gym and exercise facilities scattered throughout. People use the park respectfully and the dogs (and owners) are lovely and well behaved. You could walk for an hour in this park and not even scratch the surface! Just keep in mind some of the lakes contain poisonous blue algae which I've been told can be fatal to dogs if they drink it but if you're unsure some of the locals can advise you which lakes and ponds to avoid them entering. Also note the car parks close when nightfalls so make sure you check the times on park boards so that you don't have to walk home! What a sublime chunk of English nature to spend time in!
We visited Watermead Country Park on a very warm day (30C). It was a very nice park with plenty of walking trails, small lakes, picnic areas, benches and country birds. It was very well maintained. There are no bins available; you are asked to take your rubbish home (which we did). We struggled to find any toilets. We checked the maps on the boards. They showed no toilets. We had to cut our visit short because of this.
Busy but gentle walk along well maintained paths .Plenty to see along the picturesque lakeside's and birds.
A nice place to visit in the Spring and Summer but it was severely waterlogged during our visit on Saturday with many areas impassable and very muddy. Not really suitable if the weather has been inclement for several days causing flooded pathways and boggy grassy areas.
Fantastic place to walk your dog, go cycling, fishing or picnicking. So glad this is on my doorstep It was even beautiful after all the flooding g we had last winter.
Beautiful place to walk, run or just relax. Lots of dog walkers, particularly nice at sunset!
