   Initial Enquiry & Booking Process The enquiry process was seamless from start to finish. The studio's website clearly showcased their art style, making it easy to know if they'd be the right fit. The online enquiry form was straightforward and we received a prompt response. Consultation Experience My consultation was conducted via Zoom with Lala, who handled all my questions with expertise and genuine care. As someone with darker skin, I had specific questions about colour vibrancy and design considerations, and Lala's knowledge put me completely at ease. My wife's consultation was in-person with Kris, which was equally straightforward. Both artists made us feel heard and valued from the very beginning. Studio Environment & Cleanliness Ebony Squid is everything a modern tattoo studio should be—airy, welcoming, clean, and inviting. This isn't the dark, dingy stereotype of 90's tattoo parlours. We were greeted with friendly smiles and immediately felt comfortable in their space. I particularly appreciated the personal touches like the Nightcrawler artwork and FF7 figurines at Athena's station, which added character without compromising professionalism. Design Process & Collaboration The design walkthrough for both tattoos (a space scene for my wife and a cosmic dragon for me) was collaborative and pressure-free. Lala and Kris presented their concepts but made it clear that changes were welcome. Our input was accommodated without hesitation, and we were thrilled with both the placement and final designs. Hygiene & Safety Practices The team's attention to hygiene was impeccable. Fresh needles were used (opened in front of us), gloves worn throughout, and stations were spotlessly clean. Everything about their practice demonstrated professionalism and care for client safety. The Tattoo Session As a first-timer, I was understandably nervous, but my 5-hour session with Lala was surprisingly manageable. My wife's 6-hour session with Kris went equally smoothly. The artists offered breaks and checked in on us regularly without being intrusive. The pain was far more bearable than I'd anticipated. Aftercare & Healing The aftercare instructions were clear and thorough. Six days post-tattoo, both pieces are healing beautifully and looking exactly as we'd hoped. Overall Experience & Recommendation Both tattoos perfectly matched our vision, and the value for money was exceptional given the quality and time invested. What impressed me most was the team's knowledge with darker skin—their understanding of how colours work on darker skin tones gave me complete confidence in the process. We're already planning our return visits: Ebony Squid in Barry has earned our loyalty and highest recommendation.

   Such a nice little spot and chill atmosphere. The team were very easy to talk to, especially since I feel like I'm not the best conversationalist. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Kris worked on my tattoo and it isn't finished yet but it looks awesome already lol.

   Kris, Lala and Athena are amazing and extremely talented at what they do and are always super friendly and accommodating! The studio is an incredible space and the artists do everything they can to make sure that you have the best experience possible. I genuinely cannot recommend Ebony Squid enough!

   Just such a fabulous experience coming to Ebony Squid Studio every time (I’ve now been five times!) The atmosphere is always relaxed, cheerful, welcoming and very safe. Apart from being very talented Kris and La are super knowledgeable and can provide advice and different options if you are unsure about something. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the studio to anyone looking for a tattoo.

   Had my third tattoo from Kris last month, but this was my first colourful Disney design and my goodness I adore it! Correspondence from the studio was swift & concise and online booking system was easy to use. On the day of tattoo, arrived at the studio and felt really welcomed. Kris’s design was everything & more of what I asked for. Kris explained the process and how they worked, they were really patient with me when I needed to take breaks, ensured I was comfortable and they did such an incredible job with the tattoo. The aftercare package was awesome and felt comfortable to communicate with the studio if I had any issues. Would absolutely recommend, worth every penny and will definitely be back for more Disney ink! Thank you so much!

   I have been tattooed by La on a few occasions now, and I have always been blown away by her talent. I’m still baffled how she takes my ideas and references and turns them into a tattoo that is beyond what I could ever imagine. The studio has a very professional but relaxed and welcoming feel, and your comfort as the customer is always made a priority. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back again and again!

   I had several sittings on a custom designed half sleeve by La. From start to finish La and Squid were clear and communicative over email about what to expect from the process, which really helped me feel at ease. The preamble that comes via email before your first session is extremely clear and helpful, as was after care advice. La came up with a truly unique and mind blowing design that I was immediately in love with, based only on a few reference words and images. The studio itself is spotlessly clean and a really relaxing space to be in. Chris, La and Athena really make you feel at home and are so welcoming. La was so conscientious of my needs during every session, and clearly puts her whole self into the work she does. La and Chris' nurturing nature was evident in the way they treated and encouraged their apprentice Athena, who is now producing some beautiful work too! I am so so forever grateful to La for the beautiful art I now carry with me every day! Thank you so much La, can't wait to come back to be tattooed by you (and Chris, and Athena!!)

   Can't recommend this place enough! I was visiting from Texas to see a friend who also gets their tattoos from La, and I had such a wonderful experience. Booking was extremely easy and the studio is very responsive. The shop is extremely clean and cute, and they had Aircon during the summer, a blessing for my Texan self! La, Chris, and Athena are all so personable and talented. La made me feel so welcome and comfortable and was able to take an existing tattoo of mine and incorporate it into a beautiful piece. I've had poor experiences with tattoo artists in the past and I can say that I truly had the best time! La is not only fast but her pricing is great as well, and I felt that it was well worth the cost. She's meticulous with her sanitization and set up, which is always great to see! I get compliments on my tattoo all the time. The tattoo healed beautifully and I can tell it will hold up years down the line. The little goody bag of aftercare notes and the tattoo balm I was given were incredible. It saved me so much itching and I recommend it to all my tatted friends! I can't wait to get back to Wales to book another session!
