I absolutely love places like this. A proper old-school workshop, passed from father to son, with time-tested machinery and engineering prowess. James was very helpful and lightened, skimmed and balanced my flywheel with utmost accuracy. I saw the work he was doing on a few engines and was very impressed by the quality and detail. I spent some time talking to James - he’s a nice guy - work and engineering fabrication (as well as his parrots) really are his passions. There aren’t many machine shops and skills left like this, so we have to cherish and reward them when we find them.
I can't say thanks enough to James and his lead mechanic. Was told to scrap my engine by 3 garages. James offered to help. Turned up late on Friday and James and his mega experienced lead listened to engine and fixed it within 30 seconds and didn't want to charge. When you talk to them and look around the workshop you realise these guys are on a different level, mechanical geniuses. James has built a V1 rocket engine from scratch, for fun! There's just such a good vibe, I wish there were more like them for being so friendly, geniune and knowing all there is to know about their field. I would use them for all my technical needs, just wouldn't want to waste their talents on small stuff.
I had my flywheel lightened by James, he's a cracking bloke he definitely knows his stuff. Really friendly service and great prices I would really recommend using baldynes!
James was recommended by a motorcycle shop I use and where they didn’t have the means to dismantle a part. James made a special tool to do this and other jobs that I don’t have the tools or skill to do. Excellent service and an amazing place. His capabilities are clear from the Aladdin’s cave of machines, tools, engines, cars and motorbikes. Wonderfully old-school and a treasure.
I would love to rate James and his team more than 5 stars but unfortunately it wont let me! James did an engine rebuild on my mini JCW and it ran like new, recently I had a few issues with my EP3 Type R and James took it in at short notice and his team worked hard to get it sorted I will be returning asap to get my K20 forged by the team there but I cannot thank and recommend them enough they know their stuff better than anyone and work so hard. Thank you as always James and I will be returning.
Used to use Baldynes when they were at Biggin Hill Airport, the personnel aren't the same as I remember but the friendly, informative approach still is. James is a credit to the name. I'll use again no doubt.
James really knows his suff. Friendly and helpful fella. Prices are decent too. He did the shimming on my block and head and balanced my crank, flywheel and front pully to match.
