I was delighted to completed the 6 week open water course this summer with Andrew at Turners Swim. I was totally new to open water swimming, but now feel comfortable & can enjoy a solo swim in London after work. Andrew was a great coach and the structure of the course; building skills, confidence & distance week-on-week, worked well! Venue is good, lockers & showers available. Lessons can fill up quickly so would suggest getting in early for your preferred slot. Highly recommend the course for anyone looking to build a new life skill or prepare for a specific Tri/Swimming event !

I completed the 6 week open water swimming course with Andrew. Before starting I was scared of even getting in the open water but Andrew took us through everything really clearly and gave me the confidence to get in and I progressed throughout the 6 weeks. Each week built on the previous weeks skills and teaching you new elements to the discipline such as breathing, turning, sighting and elements of competition, building from a few small lengths to completing the full 500m loop. Having a small group meant you got individual feedback and coaching throughout and I am now confident enough to go open water swimming on my own. 100% recommend this course to anyone new to open water swimming or wanting a supportive and safe open water coaching environment.

I recently completed the 6 week Open Water Swimming course with Turner Swim. I was extremely nervous during the first module, but our coach, Andrew, was extremely calming and made us all feel at ease. We felt safe at all times, and the course is designed to progress at an appropriate rate each week, to ensure that you are learning new things with each module and gaining confidence in the water. The sense of ease and enjoyment increased with each module, and I am now ready to complete a full length triathlon! Andrew is a wonderful coach, and I highly recommend this course if you are looking to complete a long distance swim or triathlon!

I have swam my entire life and used to be a lifeguard, however, without this course there is no way we would be prepared for my 2 mile Serpentine swim. I didnt appreciate how hard open water swimming would be or that it required different skills to pool. Andrew is an outstanding teacher and is very patient and explains things thoroughly. The venue is perfect to learn in and the equipment provided is good quality. I would highly recommend to anyone contemplating open-water swimming for the first time.

Earlier this year, I enrolled in the open water swimming lessons proposed by Turner Swim at the Docklands Sailing & Watersports Centre, and have really enjoyed them. Coaches Thomas & Andrew were very approachable and knowledgeable, which helped me gain confidence in doing open water swimming for the first time. Over the 6 sessions together, I gained enough confidence in my swimming abilities to enroll for the annual 1 mile swim they organize. Having only recently learning swimming, I have been pleased with that. I highly recommend these lessons, and working with Coach Thomas & Andrew more generally - in a pool or at the Docklands Centre. I am now a regular at the Centre during the open season. Thomas, Andrew: Thank you for your guidance & help!

Had my first open water session in a small group trained by Andrew. Thoroughly enjoyed it and learned several aspects of being in the open water. I have also had a few pool sessions with Thomas& he has been instrumental in helping me move from a novice swimmer who was panting after a lap to now swimming 50+ laps non stop. These guys are professionals and are absolutely a delight to train under.

I had a brilliant experience with Andrew and Lindsay coaching me for open water swimming!! I signed up to 5 classes, and we've covered many aspects of open water swimming, from a both technical and situational (e.g. swimming with others) perspective. Per class we were maximum 6 people which meant that Andrew and Lindsay could give me tailor-made advice at each class. My initial objective was to build confidence for triathlons. After the classes I not only had that, but I also found that I was swimming quicker. Finally, the instructors are both so nice, passionate and accessible. I strongly recommend!!

The magic thing about being coached in open water is that the Turner Swim instructors are in the Kayak right next to you, and they then paddle away and let you get on with it. The group sessions I attended had a broad range of swimmers, some very experienced and some first timers, and the coaching was structured so each individual could push themselves without feeling either terrorised or held back by the others. But the big advantage for me was to spend an hour in the water with other people, swimming, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, some drills, some technique, with enough coaching to make a difference. I'm looking forward to 2019!

Having already had a very good experience with Turner Swim improving my technique in the pool, I decided to have a try at open water swimming. My lesson with Ollie was excellent. He explained everything very well, from chosing the correct wet suit size to how to enter the water comfortably. I had been a bit apprehensive about open water swimming as I didn't know if I would be a strong enough swimmer, but Ollie was very encouraging and gave me the confidence to swim longer distances. Ollie understood well the adjustments that had to be made from pool swimming to open water swimming and explained very precisely how to swim more efficiently in these new conditions. I really enjoyed the session (which went by very quickly) and would highly recommend it to those who want to try something different from swimming in a pool. Many thanks to Ollie and Andrew for their good work.

I have just finished the triathlon open water swim coaching and I would highly recommend for both beginners and those more experienced. As a beginner the sessions were great and helped me to build up confidence in the open water and learn skills that I can use in my triathlon. Andrew, Rachel and Ollie are all great teachers and really try to make the sessions interesting and varied. I genuinely really enjoyed the sessions so thank you!
