Came here for the first time and I was truly amazed!! I’m currently on a mission to visit and review all Southwark sites, so far I’ve been to Dulwich, Peckham and Camberwell, with Dulwich leading but after today the Castle is definitely the best so far!! Great customer service, the place was spotless, it’s got a nice layout. Very nice place to train and will definitely be back soon!! Sadly I didn’t have time to use the sauna/steam room as the site was closing. Also the canteen was closed so could sample any food, but it did look very tidy and clean. I’m glad I came here today, wish I had done so sooner!!!!!!!!

Today I ment to have a tour review, with a member of staff, sadly it has been declined with a rude and unprofessional staff. She declined me access to the gym to make my own round tour to see the facility that is available. All the time she repeat to me I can acces the gym at later time to exercise, even though I told her more than three times that I wasn’t planning to use the gym on that day, I wanted to use it another day after I reviewed the premise and facilities to be sure that The castle gym is suitable for my needs. Unfortunately after 10 to 15 arguing with her I decided to leave and come another day when I can see the person who has booked the appointment with me. I would suggest for everyone that want to use the facility or the gym to think again as the staff are not polite and not patient at the reception area.

The gym itself is great with top range equipment. however, the booking system is very 'council' with ridged rules that are not customer focused. Gym sessions slots often show as fully booked when the gym is half-empty. if you turn up 10 mins before your booked slot reception staff will make you wait those 10mins in the reception area, again, even when the gym is empty. I thought Southwark Council were trying to encourage their residents to get fit/exercise not make it a difficult thing to achieve.

I had a truly wonderful experience at the Castle Centre. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the customer service was a perfect 10/10. The receptionist, Abdul, was extremely polite and helpful. He explained the membership prices clearly and took his time to make sure I understood everything, which meant a lot to me as I have a learning disability. In all my years visiting the Castle Centre, I have never met anyone as kind, patient, and supportive as Abdul. He really went above and beyond, and I’m very grateful for his outstanding service.

Good swimming pool in terms of water temperature and cleanness. In the gym there are simply facilities that aren’t working well. I have hurt my ankle once on a E-cycle because it was somehow stuck and not functioning - the other two worked well so you’ve got to have a try before going for your exercise. Gym facilities might need some revamp for safety considerations.

Great local fitness/leisure centre. The pool and sauna (which is what I go there to use) is clean and at a good temperature. The showers are great, with a really good pressure! I had a look at the gym and the studios too, they look good. The bit I don't like is the way the pool sessions are booked. I'd like more flexibility with being able to come and swim, but that may just be my preference. That's why it's 4 stars not 5. Today the sauna was cold. It was turned on 10 mins late. Dropping a star

Well equiped gym and swimming pool with sauna. Relatively busy, but clean. A very diverse public. You may need to request some gym equipment from the staff office. Other than that, the gym is being kept in good condition and tidy. Management has an unwavering attitude towards people using equipment carelessly or in an unsocial way and don't scare from confronting them. Seeing the centre manager and staff training themselves in the gym inspires a good level of confidence. But it's true what others posted about the reception team: they are not the most welcoming staff compared to other sites in the borough.

The sports courts are good in terms of lighting. But there are few holes in the badminton nets which need to be changed ASAP. The receptionist is really rude and unfriendly. He didn’t allow us to get in. We waited for 15 minutes at the entrance. Wasted my time! Better go when this guy is not at reception.

Beautiful sports hall and great for badminton. Nice and new, clean overall. But one downside is this centre is not great when it comes to hydration. There's only one water fountain by the sport hall on the 2nd floor apart from one by the swimming pool, which is either only slowly working or not working at all. Two vending machines from the top floor are out of order. The only one working is by the reception, which is card only, and a bottle of water costs £1.85. I'm not keen on wasting plastic bottles like this, not to mention spending so much for water. And the cafe is not open as far as weekday daytime is concerned.
