Enjoyed the most wonderful Sunday lunch at the Oaken Arms. Bar and waitressing staff very attentive to tables and efficient serving food and drink. Couldn’t ask for a better service. Our waitress was Kyra who was excellent at tending to our table. Standards miles above what I expect from pubs nowadays. Keep up the good work everyone at Oaken Arms!

We had a lovely meal tonight, great attention from the staff, swift service and delicious food. I had a fillet steak , cooked rare and it was so tender and tasty. Other half had the katsu chicken curry bowl, great flavour and nice and light. We didn’t have starters or pudding, except an espresso martini which was spot on. The new decor looks lovely and fresh, still cosy.

Lovely meal for my Birthday today. Chose from the Sunday menu and had a couple of glasses of wine. First time coming here and I was not disappointed. Great service, lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent. Would definitely come again.

My first visit and I wasn't disappointed. Lovely cool pint of Aspall cider followed by a delicious sticky toffee pudding. Friendly, helpful staff too!

The food and service was very good. This is a very nice place for close friends to catch up, special occasions and small private meetings. We loved the desserts and drinks that topped us off.

I was looking forward to my first visit to The Oaken Arms with friends, as it’s part of a the vintage inn chain I had high high hopes. Sadly, my experience didn’t live up to my expectations. We were off to a good start as my party we’re running slightly behind our original booking and the pub were absolutely fine with it and we’re quite understanding over the phone. However, when we did get to the pub, even though we were 15 minutes later than our original booking we were still hanging around waiting for our table. The restaurant was not particularly busy as several tables left shortly after we arrived. The restaurant is lovely, proper country pub vibe and is set in a lovely location. Once, We were sat at our table, the waitress took our drinks order and went away. It seemed to take forever for the waitress to come back to take our starters and mains orders. When she reappeared we were notified the following was unavailable: - The chicken and mushroom pie, - lasagne - all the steaks What was quite disappointing is quite a few of the table had choose this before we were told they were unavailable. Once ordered, it took around 40 minutes for our starters to hit the table. I ordered the pate which was nice however the portion was barely enough to go with the sour dough baguette. It seemed to be plonked on the plate with no desire for it to look appetising. I was disappointed as I have this starter regular at most vintage inns I visit and this fell completely short. Whilst we were waiting for our main course, the supervisor came over to tell us one of the four of us who ordered the burger for main could no longer have our mail as we had ran out. He made the suggestion that he would take one of the patty’s off the double burger and put it on the single burger order. There was a lot of talk regarding this and in the end the burger was substituted for pizza. The supervisor had an attempt at rescuing what was going down hill rapidly by giving the individual a glass of wine on the house. For my main meal, I had a house burger. It was okay, it wasn’t fantastic but It wasn’t rubbish Either. My halloumi that I had paid extra for and Was an extra topping added lots of extra flavour to the burger and saved it! We had finished eating and a waiter came to say if we wanted anymore drinks or desserts that the kitchen and bar would be closing at 10pm. It felt like they were trying to say it’s time for you to go as at this point we had not had any pudding orders or prior warning to the closing time. It felt like the staff wanted us to leave as it Was time for them to put their feet up and it was only our table left in the restaurant. The food is very average and did not meet my expectations considering the price. You get what you pay for!! The service is really not very good, staff seemed more interested in setting empty tables than serving the customers who were already there. I get people are new staff and everyone was a learner once but Even the experienced staff don’t want to seem to help new staff. Staff are very rude and self centred and are happy to talk above themselves, then tell you to leave once they have your money! I would return, but only if I discount vouchers or there was a cheap deal on menus. It’s not the place I would take friends or family who have high expectations as they would be thoroughly Disappointed mainly with the lack of service and lack of food! Unfortunately I can only rate 4/10. Very disappointing
