Beam Valley Country Park (Beam Parklands) is a hidden gem of green space in the middle of town. It’s a lovely mix of woodland, grassland, wetlands and lakes, with plenty of wildlife we spotted swans, ducks, coots and even a few herons. There are good paths (both tarmac and grass), several entrances including from Rainham Frederick Road, and enough benches to sit and enjoy the scenery, though a few more would be welcome. There’s also some nice local history here with old wartime defences, parts of the Romford Canal, and informative notice boards. On the downside, the park does suffer from dog mess and too many off-lead dogs, which can spoil the experience. A bit more regular litter-picking and tree/bush maintenance would also make a big difference. Overall, it’s a peaceful and pleasant place to walk, jog, birdwatch or just sit by the lake. A real bit of countryside in the middle of the city – well worth visiting.

Pleasant place to go for a walk. The country park is full of wildlife, we saw a few Herons. Not inundated with mosquitoes like some of the places a bit further north, despite the wetlands. Enjoyed the information about the old hospital.

The Beam Parklands Country Park is nothing to do with the new Beam Park Housing Development. Please can those who want to leave feedback on the housing development not leave their reviews here. This is an amazing award winning country park with absolutely nothing to do with the new housing estate being built next to it.

I love this place, it has been amazing during lockdown. Although some paths do get flooded so you need to be wearing waterproof shoes.

Such a great green area. However full of drinkers and youth at the start of the park. Council not maintained for over a year. Rubbish everywhere. Shame! Update. Looks like the maintenance work was put in. Bench removed where the rubbish was piling up. Great getaway now
