In my experience, I prefer authentic Indian cuisine. On several occasions when visiting restaurants marketed as Indian, I have noticed that they are operated or run by Bangladeshi chefs or owners. While these establishments present themselves as Indian, they are in fact Bangladeshi restaurants, with the use of the term “Indian” seemingly intended to appeal to a wider customer base. I believe it is important for restaurants to be transparent about the type of cuisine they offer, as there are clear differences in flavour and preparation. Personally, I find traditional Indian food better suited to my taste than its Bangladeshi counterpart.

Being a Southerner and now retired the last time I ate at the Dilshad must be at least 20 years ago. For me it was a memorable experience and my introduction to Chicken Pathia which subsequently became my dish of choice. The Dilshad and its chicken pathia set the bar by which I have measured all other restuarants since. Its sweet and sour taste, not overly hot and full flavour is a delight and is still as good as I remembered. I ate early on a Sunday evening along with maybe a dozen other diners in a relaxed atmosphere. Startered with a couple of poppadoms and chutneys followed by the chicken pathia bombay potatoes, a peshwari nan and a pint of cobra to quench my thirst. It was all delicious and very reasonably priced. Just wish I lived closer.

Best mix grill I’ve ever had. Great service. I think our server was named Syed? He was brilliant, will definitely be having another mix grill from here very soon

The worst Indian food I ever had tested in my life. We just recently ordered aaloo parotha with no any potatoe fillings thick as like a towel and very hard to chew we ordered two jalfrezi prawn and lamb one of my friend had allergy with a lamb but the prawn was smelling like a lamb it seems like the prawn was cooked on a same dish. And other item that we ordered was a vindi vaji and mixed veg biryani but the balti sauce was stale it makes the taste so bad. We just feel regret that we waste our £68. We was a group of four but none of us finished any single dish the bad thing is we need to waste the food. For the proof I had uploaded the photo below sorry to say but the food was very bad.

We came here yesterday before a gig. It was pretty quiet so we were served very quickly. All the dishes we had were stunning, couldn't fault. All allergens are labelled which is a great touch. Restaurant itself is a little dated but I quite like that personally. Thanks so much!

The best Indian restaurant in Wolverhampton, quite possibly the best restaurant overall in the town centre. Exceptionally premium quality authentic Indian cuisine, extremely attentive staff (shout out to Rubel and his fantastic delivering of service). Very classy place to fine dine and treat your women to a quality dining experience!

Shambles from the beginning. Tried to book a table it wasn't confirmed until 10 minutes before the booking was about to start. We had already made plans to go elsewhere but as this was closer we decided to turn up for this one at 10 minutes notice. On arrival the staff were all a bit bewildered and confused, it all seemed extremely odd. The place was outdated and in need of renovation. Its so cold there we had to eat in our coats. The waiter was miserable and wouldn't allow us to order starters and mains separately, he said I have to take the whole order now. When my food arrived it had several hairs (could have been any one of them, as is it was short black hairs) I decided to brave the loo and wasn't in anyway surprised at how awful it was. Partitions held together with tape. Electrical wires exposed, filthy toilets. Then came the bill. Over £100 for 3 chicken masala and some rice & bread plus hairs. Portions were small. So stingy with the rice. This place is pure daylight robbery. Clearly no profit goes into upkeep. Don't care about customers.

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at the Dilshad on Christmas day, the food was superb and the lads serving I think one was called Mohammed were utterly sensational and nothing was too much trouble for them! The ambiance in the restaurant was delightful and such amazing value for money! If you get the chance to visit this fantastic place I thoroughly recommend you do so! Well done the Dilshad!

My husband and I went to Dilshad after a long day at Alton towers to have some soul serving Indian food. After reading the reviews, we tried to walk into Dilshad, while they were booked entirely, the server - Mohammed was very kind to find us a cozy table for 2! Loved the service overall. The food was delicious and fresh. Would definitely recommend Dilshad to anyone who are visiting Wolverhampton soon or even passing by

Despite being in Wolverhampton numerous times, have not noticed this restaurant before. The staff were attentive and my Chicken Tandoori and more was freshly cooked and beautifully presented. A real delight at a reasonable price. Also do Just Eat / Takeaway
