Waiting staff fantastic, food terrible. Place has really went down hill unfortunately. Used to be a cracking spot. Not sure if it has changed ownership or changed chef's but notable difference in the same dishes. It's an awful shame when the staff serving you the food are the best part of the restaurant. I would write it off as an isolated incident but upon talking to friends afterwards, they had similar experiences in the past few months. In a time where prices are sky rocketing, quality simply can not plummet.

We (9 people) had our Work Christmas Lunch here and it was just perfect. Fab service, attentive and prompt. Food was delicious (most of us ate from the Christmas Fayre Menu) and the portions were huge. Exceptional value and would highly recommend!

I ordered my steak to be cooked blue but was more like a medium nothing like blue and not seasoned. We also got fish and chips with peas both were dry but chips good, Β£2.50 for a bottle of water for the table. Plenty of car parking most of the staff were polite and friendly. Was highly recommended by a friend. Each to there own we'll not be returning.

I haven't been in eight south for some time, and I can't remember why that was so, because after having a lovely family dinner for 5 last Saturday, I will certainly be back again soon. Great food, excellent service, and more than satisfactory prices made our visit an absolute pleasure. Yes Saturday afternoon is quieter than busy times like Friday or Saturday evening, but from my visit last week, I cannot recommend eight south any more highly.

My Fiancè and I absolutely love this place! The burgers have to be the nicest in the north, they are so juicy, thick and are full of flavour, the salad (red onion in particular) in them is unreal for some reason!!!! The double crunch chips are cooked to perfection every time. My finance recently got the Steak and Guiness pie, the flavours in it were outstanding! We've been maybe four times now and have never had a bad meal out of it or have had anything to complain about! The deserts are incredible and staff are very friendly and helpful

A bouncer on the door of a restaurant is never a good sign, as soon as we walked in we realised why he was there, very loud and rowdy crowd. We had booked a table but staff had no record of the booking, it really was a horrible atmosphere, loud music and people shouting over it, like a nightclub with food. The waitress offered us a table next door, not quite a loud but we still had to shout across the table to one another, it was a very unpleasant noise level. Staff were pleasant but clueless about the food and wine list. The food arrived in a reasonable time, thats pretty much the best i can say about it, i asked for a "well done" burger, it was far from it, cold and greasy, chips also cold and greasy. We had two steaks at the table, one was fine the other over cooked and fatty. Honestly if i had been there with my wife we would have complained and left but as part if a bigger group we had to grin and bear it. We tried to make the most of it but nobody could really say they enjoyed it. I did attempt to use the gents to wash my hands but the floor was a puddle from a leaking urinal so i didn't bother. I will not be back, its low quality cafe food sold at restaurant prices in a rowdy nightclub atmosphere, honestly i would rather have had a drive through McDonalds. Try the Ivanhoe up the road if your in the area, its is so much better than this place.

Was looking forward to eating here for kids birthday dinner as reviews were very good. Not at all impressed. All were only having mains. Took a good 20 minutes for drinks order to be taken... another 30 minutes for food order....and another 45 minutes for food to be served. Only 4 other tables dining so not at all busy. Food was enjoyed by 2 ....the sizzling chicken...the rest of us ...food was extremely average and bland. Won't be rushing back...

Has been awhile since we where here last. Easy parking at premises. Welcoming staff. Lovely warm & cozy fire to greet us. Accommodated a large party. Food excellent.

Lovely surroundings and pleasantly comfortable. Staff are attentive but not too much as to spoil any conversation taking place. Drinks order on arrival along with a menu. Clean and well organised. Starters and main course we're absolutely lovely. Good choice on menu. Prompt warm food. We will be back.
