Really gone downhill. The man served me first. He was rude with his service. I had pie and chips. The pie was dry and tasted like it had been there all day. My daughter had a kebab and said it was ok but the salad wasn't great. The lady server was more friendly

Have been visiting Captain Cod for many years and have never had a bad experience. The staff are lovely and always welcome you. Sometimes there is a small wait when the fish or chips are being freshly cooked but they make you aware of the wait time when you order. We always enjoy our food, ending with clear plates and will continue returning to Captain Cod, our local :)

Upon returning from a short break we stopped off here to collect fish & chips rather than queue for ages at our local (fabulous) chippy. We bought 2 large fish, one small chips and 2 cartons of peas, thinking this would be a fab treat to end our holiday. It LOOKED great! Huge fish! However, the fish was vile - thin, grey, rubbery, dry, chewy and tasted stale. It should be white inside and melt in your mouth! I kept trying different bits, thinking maybe it was just dry at the edges. No. Awful. They were inedible. Clearly we'd been sold yesterday's unsold fish, or at the very least, leftover lunchtime fish (this was around 6pm). We wrapped the fish back up, intending to take it back this evening and ask for a refund, but in the end couldn't face the drive. Hence this review. The chips were reasonably okay and the mushy peas were fine. We ate those. We will NEVER go back to Captain Cod chippy.

Just had fish and chips from here fish was very poor like it had been cooked hours ago and served just so it does not into waste. Chips were fresh. I never seem to understand why food places would serve this type of poor food. Will NEVER visit again

Best fish and chips in town by a mile, no exaggeration. It kills me they don't deliver though, it's a two mile walk but it says something for the food quality that I'm prepared to walk past three closer chippies to come here.

Still the best fish and chips in Nottingham.

Decent fish and chips. Would visit again, albeit next month as I am now too fat from Xmas.

This place had a stellar reputation. I don't know if I've just been unlucky, but the food I've had the last 2 times has been poor quality and small portions. What I really found off-putting was the staff. They looked like they were being held hostage. Very weird vibe. Won't be going again. There's a much better chippy on Beckhampton Road, Queens Bower end

Exceptional chips and fish is always fresh. Their mixed chicken dishes are really good too. Generous portion size and fairly priced. Can't recommend trying this enough
