Always loved George’s but went on way home from work today and I think the chips were leftover from lunch time- really hard and dry. For £5.50 very disappointed.
Great food that's value for money ate in the the sit down restaurant. The food was fresh and service quick and efficient. Would like to say the waiter Craig who was running the restaurant. Was very professional knew it wasn't his first rodeo. It's hard to find good waiting staff
Have called in regularly when going to football. Always great food and the service from the waitress was exceptional, although I know she has now moved to the West Bridgford restaurant. Has been consistently good over many years.
We ordered a small cod, small chips and for me large cod and large chips, the girl serving tries to convince me that she got me a large chips!!!! She really has an attitude problem! Food is good but the service is below average!
Great food, great service and, the food was cheap too, me and my girlfriend ate here and it only costed £15 for the both of us! Thats so cheap!

Best fish and chips ever in Midlands. Very old fashion but the quality never let you down. Have a large cod with curry sauce and mushy peas, a plate of bread and butter, a nice cup of tea. Perfect. The batter is so light and crispy, not oily at all, the fish is very fresh and good quality. We always go there when we want fish and chips.
Popped in for an early dinner while on our travels. This place was recommended to us and we wasn't disappointed at all ! Food was perfect. Although the photo is of a large meal and i couldn't finish it. Pricing was really fair 2x large battered sausage, chips and mushy peas for under £10. You won't find that down south. Fast service and great friendly customer service.
It was a strange road to this place. It was the fourth place we tried to eat at (on a Monday evening). What goes on in Derbyshire that no one wants to serve food on a Monday? George's is a takeaway fish and chip bar with a restaurant at the side. It is clean and tidy and with neat signs outside it is very well presented. The presentation of the menus also reinforce this. Having been on the go all day, I ordered a large cod and chips and beans with bread and butter as a side. Yes. I am a heathen who says no to mushy peas. My mate ordered steak pie with gravy and chips. The meals both arrived on plates the same size, despite me having ordered a large meal. The fish was of average size. It was very tasty, it was fresh and the batter was also very good. Light and crispy, it didn't taste of oil either. It was not though, a particularly large portion of fish. The chips, though mostly tasty were also small in portion size. And of that portion too many were small, crispy bits. Very unimpressed by this. If you make good chips, flaunt it. Paying a premium to sit in, I expect a high quality and a decent sized portion if I order a large fish and chips. Will I return? Maybe. There's certainly other chippies to explore. A little attention to detail would definitely see more stars in future reviews.
