Arrived at the stables for a lovely family meal. There was 7 of us. We all ordered our drinks and then our food. Once the food came out 4 of us had ordered scampi. One of the scampi portions had 5 pieces in it, costing £4.40 per piece of scampi, the rest of the portions had way more pieces. When staff were confronted we were told sorry and it was taken back into the kitchen. Our waiter (a tall man) then came out and said no way I’ve served that to you to my elderly nanny and came back out with the 5 pieces of scampi, accusing us of stealing the scampi, I think that he thought we were hiding it in our bags or something. I’m unsure of where he thought we put it. He had a full on argument with us in the restaurant around other customers accusing us. He then disappeared and was never seen again. Then a younger girl came out who wasn’t even at our table when the food was served and said there is no way we would’ve served the scampi like that, again accusing us of hiding it or something. I mean you’ve to be a very sad person if you’re stealing a couple bits of scampi. Anyway the owner was informed and he said “aw well I wasn’t there to see it happen” most ignorant people I’ve ever met, I doubt you be treated like that in the hard cold depth of Belfast nevermind the stables. Anyway bill was £157 all in and not one sorry or apology on the way out. No ownership in the whole situation and appalling customer service. WONT BE BACK, remember if to do go make sure to steal a couple wee slithery pieces of scampi for me. They took all review/comments from other people as well down. banned my family from their Facebook page. So if you want true reviews look on social media ask on their first.(North down mums or county down mums) I still have not been given any apology from the way my family was treated.

This the second time visiting the Stables for lunch, and if it wasn't so far from Crossgar, I would be there a lot more. From the warm welcome, to the farewell it was a lovely experience. Beautiful setting with views to the sea and and staff who are well trained with genuine friendliness, Menu is extensive with all the favourites and a daily special menu to boot. Restaurant has an air of detail to cleanliness and customer comfort. Our order was taken quickly and served in good time and tasted freshly made with care. Triple cooked chips were a delight. Well done Stables and hope to be able to visit to try the evening experience. Thanks again, Colin, Crossgar,

So I was recently visiting family in the UK, from where I live now in Florida, we went to the Stables for a later lunch. My Father had the fish n chips and said it was excellent, my mother had the scampi again it was excellent and I myself had the lasagna, it was outstanding and a huge portion with the garlic bread, the side salad and i got garlic butter for the triple cooked chunky chips. We where seated at a table by the window and could see Scotland. It was a wonderful meal and great experience. The staff where very attentive and pleasant. I highly recommend the Stables for a meal, we did not book a table as we arrived for a late lunch, but maybe book/reserve a table as I would imagine with the great food and service this could get quite busy.

Lovely surroundings, great service and delicious food! I had the Open Portavogie Prawn Sandwich and it was delicious. We ended up with the desert from the specials menu (Choux with honeycomb ice-cream and drizzle), which was out of this world! I would highly recommend!

We came here in the late afternoon for a nice meal and it wasn't just nice, it was spectacular! Fish and chips of the highest quality and the quantity was barely manageable. So the value for food is definitely good! The members of staff were all very friendly and we were able to ask the kind waiter whether we could sit closer to the window, which wasn't a problem at all. Toilets were very modern and clean and the area it is situated in is very picturesque with views out towards the sea included at every visit. Highly recommended!

We had a great meal here today. I got the chicken stack which came with champ and tobacco onions with peppercorn sauce. It was gorgeous. My mum and dad enjoyed theirs also. Staff were really attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back.

We went here today for Christmas day meal. It was amazing the food was beautiful and the staff couldn't do enough to help. My son took covid 2 days ago so we had to cancel him and although they didn't have to offer us anything back they were willing to give him a £40 voucher which we were more than happy with. The owner spoke to us personally and told us to let him know when we would be returning and he would get us a great table organised. Now this man was very busy and didn't have to take time to speak at all but it made all the difference as his generosity and politeness and caring nature made us more than willing to support his business. So head to the stables you will not be disappointed.
