Great atmosphere with the friendly locals. Drinks offers are pretty decent. The food is frozen food and not worth the money at all. We had two meals this evening and were really disappointed. For just over £30, one would expect something more than what tasted like Aldi food done in an air fryer.

Went to the gatehouse yesterday with the family for the first time since the reopening and I have to say it was an amazing experience. Me and the family got a mix of the new menu and the Christmas menu and it was amazing and cooked beautifully. The staff were welcoming and attentive so I was very pleased with the service we received. Definitely would recommend!!!!

Food and the new refurb is great.. staff not very attentive. Few staff were standing talking to their friends at the tables for atleast 20 mins. Due to this service was slow. There was a loverly young lady who brought my daughters dessert out who apologise about the wait. New hot drink machine is very nice.

This place is so calm, good for a date, as the music plays slowly and the Menu is quiet affordable. I had the triple deck Burger, and trust me, it was worth every bite and savor. The workers are very polite also.

We spent the afternoon at this pub, and unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. The chicken breast was overcooked, and the steak, which we ordered medium rare, was also overcooked. The chicken strips were inconsistent—some were tasty, but others were raw. The kids’ meal burger was fine, but the corn served with it was undercooked or possibly expired. When we asked the staff about the corn, she went to the chef and was told, “maybe it is just the colour,” which was not reassuring. To make matters worse, we ordered dessert, which never reached our table. Please see the photos below, which show the issues more clearly than words can. Overall, our experience was unsatisfactory. The food quality, consistency, and service all need serious improvement.

My first visit several weeks ago was very positive. I opted for the meat free breakfast which was good. My second visit on the 25th March was OK for my friend but a complete disaster for me. I ordered the meat free burger (see the pathetic offering in the pics). It arrived several minutes after my friends which was a poor start. When the offering was placed in front of me I could see the burger wasn't quite right. I lifted the bun to see a part dried, part cooked, part uncooked, lukewarm burger. I returned the meal via a server and agreed to have the same meal again. After several minutes, low and behold on inspection the second burger was exactly the same. I called a server over to advise of my disdain at such unprofessional service. I was informed the problem is that the burgers are a poor product. If a company is aware they are stocking a poor product why serve it. I told the server that in my opinion the burgers have been left in the freezer too long and I haven't had a problem with any meat free alternatives in my 9 years of not eating meat. I was offered drinks or an alternative meal but I declined. I accept things go wrong but it happened twice during one visit is totally unacceptable. I would rather suck on Ice Lollies made from frozen rat urine than visit this establishment again. The place does have its positives which I noted at the start of the review. The staff are pleasant and helpful but I don't visit a pub to eat based on the servers alone.

I regularly go to the gatehouse for food with my family or friends. Always had a good experience, recently visited and had a lovely young waitress named Sophie who was very polite, helpful, and kind to the kids! Food was served promptly and cleared away quickly too when finished. Good prices and portion sizes too!
