Terrible. Any photos you see on here of this 'amazing looking hotel' are old and don't reflect the current rundown uncared for property both inside and out. There are a couple of rooms which could easily be fabulous but currently sit unused. There was no bar or facility for evening food. If you're reading recent positive reviews I would question their validity! Extremely rude receptionist, who thought it okay to insult us (and other guests), saw nothing wrong with leaving the pc unlocked, don't dnt agree it was a GDPR breach. He said guests often book themselves in! The bedrooms were uncomfortably hot, bathroom was dirty, mouldy, broken tiles, door lock. Bedroom was a fair size but beds were unstable, I didn't dare look for bed bugs!! The room had damp on the ceiling and around windows and wasn't particularly clean Swimming pool, spa facilities and gym are not operational. Infant the view from our window over this area shows overgrown areas, shabby buildings etc It is quite sad, you can see from photos how beautiful this place can be. I read the reviews and thought 'it can't be that bad', oh boy Yes it can!!. It's grim and if it's operating in a few months time I would be surprised. Such a shame to see this listed building in such disrepair. Take my advice buy a tent if this is the only hotel with spaces!!!

We were severely disappointed with our stay here; the lovely exterior entirely conceals a dirty, old, and derelict interior that permeates the entire property with an awful smell and the weirdest atmosphere. Our bedroom was unacceptable, featuring mould and a cracked ceiling, dirt throughout, and disgusting windows. We specifically booked this hotel for its advertised facilities but received no prior warning that the pool area was unusableβ€”it was absolutely vile, freezing cold, with no seating, and the promised hot tub was out of use, empty, and filled with rubbish; the path to the pool even led past derelict, dirty rooms packed with discarded items, and the changing rooms and "sauna" (which was literally a shed) were equally filthy. Staff were nowhere to be found to ask for help or raise issues. The only small positive was that the breakfast was alright, but overall, this hotel should not be taking bookings in its current condition.

If you are a Jane Austin fan & ever dreamt of staying in a country house, this is not to be missed. Incredible historical features. Breakfast is served in the library. The staff are incredible. The breakfast is basic but cooked to order and fresh. Be aware that it is shabby chic. If that is not to your taste then this is not the right place for you. But it is clean.

I stayed in Fieldways in August. We had a very pleasant long weekend and personally believe it doesn't get the praise it deserves! The staff are very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is edwardian thus not in keeping with modern day hotels, instead carries its own unique charm. The pool and other amenities were at our disposal except the sauna which was not open. If your looking for a good budget hotel with pool and gym available I suggest you give Fieldways a go. Thanks guys I will be back!

Arriving at field way the hotel looks like a stately house. Being cheap. I just prayed it would be clean. Opened door to beds being crisp and white spotless, bathroom was tired but the main rooms were lovely. Breakfast was super value as much cereal and toast as you want, cooked breakfast was fresh and well cooked. I highly recommend this hotel, great for visiting Bath very cheap worth every penny

Despite other reviews we stayed here and I'm really glad we did. For Β£60 a night including breakfast I don't think you can go wrong! The staff that greeted us, we spoke to on the phone and that served breakfast are so friendly. You don't really see anyone staff wise otherwise but that didn't really bother us, the room was basic but we were just using it to sleep and wash in while we were visiting bath and cheddar gorge so it did us just fine. Lovely bathroom, lovely big bath! The hotel is dated and could do with a bit of money spent on it to bring it up to date but it's quirky and I liked it! Wouldn't recommend the swimming pool as it's freezing and not really up to my standards of clean... But other than that I throughly enjoyed my stay here and would stay there again.

The original building is lovely architecturally. As a hotel I would say 2 star rather than 3. Rooms clean, breakfast was good and it does have a pool. However its very outdated and run on a shoe-string it needs some serious maintenance to some areas. I also found ordering my breakfast and arranging the exact time all the night before strange. I prefer to go to breakfast when I wish in the morning. Adequate for a 1 night stay.

The room I was first shown-14- was simply horrible -2β˜†, but luckily it was a Sunday night so not full, and the 2nd room-3-, in the old part of the house,.was lovely. En-suite only just adequate though. Fascinating building, gorgeous panelled breakfast room and very good breakfast. But No Bar, no staff overnight - only an emergency contact number ,- no bar, no means of getting any sort of food or drink , not even any drinking water provided anywhere, though there is tea and coffee , milk sachets, and kettles in the rooms. The TV lounge is nice, but in dire need of cleaning. Sadly Unused cellar bar. Lovely outlook onto the grounds with Grand Trees, and there is an attached Leisure centre with gym and swimming pool ,conservatory and courtyard garden, but it all feels quite unkempt, and the jaccuzzi is out of use. A fantastic asset,,the whole place has the feeling of being let run down though which is a shame as it has enormous potential to be a Fabulous 5β˜† Establishment with injection of funds and TLC.

This is a beautiful old building, steeped in history. Well worth it and recommend. Family run and great welcome and service. Lovely breakfast too. Beautiful period craftsmanship everywhere you look. Plenty of character and perfect for one night stop overs to weddings.

Lovely building but under staffed, gym is out dated, not much equipment to work with, saunas are not working and no signs anywhere for Wifi password! so overall a disappointed but the swimming pool is good size. Please put signs up for Wi-Fi password that would improve things
