Had a really disappointing breakfast in The Olive Tree this morning. I ordered the loaded sourdough, as I'm veggie I asked for it without bacon and the waitress told me the chef could do roasted tomatoes instead, which sounded lovely, and also asked if I wanted some relish with it, I said yes to both. When it came out there was no relish (if they had ran out why not just tell me and apologise?) and the tomatoes were far from roasted, they were just cut in half and a little warm, probably from the poached eggs sitting on top of them. The poached eggs were a whole other story; I'm not sure how bad a cook you had to be to overcook poached eggs to that level. They were so hard the yolk was crumbling (photo attached). I considered sending them back but if a chef is happy to send out eggs like that in the first place it felt a waste to even ask for new eggs to be cooked. There was also a layer of avocado that I don't think the chef had even shown a grain of salt; avocado is tasteless without seasoning. But I guess that's why they have huge salt and pepper grinders on the table, so you can do the chef's job for him! My friend had scrambled eggs with wheaten and smoked salmon and she confirmed her eggs were very dry and over cooked. This cafe was a second choice for us on a Saturday morning as the place we had wanted to go to was full, it's safe to say I'll never even consider going back! Really says a lot for the standard of food you can find in Bangor.

The eggs where sunny side up but overcooked and rubbery. I think reheated. The soda and potato bread wasn't cooked. The sausage was rancid I had to spit it out I've never not liked a sauSage in my life something was wrong there. The bacon was solid but not burnt. I think reheated. Ladys gave me lovely service and o got take away as I live across the street. First time trying food from here even gave them a tip for the service. I wasn't expecting a fry to be this bad. Everything tastes like it was cooked and reheated. 3 atmosphere is only because I did not eat in i cannot judge the atmosphere it seemed cozy and chill The amount in picture is what i had taken. *Edit* its the evening now after eating this afternoon only those bites you see in pic and I've puked 3 times white in the face and got cold sweat and feel freezing and shakes and my teeth are clattering ffs. Knew there was something wrong when trying to get it down. I hate doing these types reviews ffs I wanted to give good one the women was lovely in the store.

Picture this. A beautiful Sunday morning. After a rough few weeks with some personal issues, my girlfriend and I decide to treat ourselves to a little day trip to Bangor. We had a an ice cream, a walk around the marina, and eventually decided to grab some lunch. Unfortunately, the red berry across the road was full, so we came to the Olive Tree 'Artisan' Cafe. We both decided to order the club sandwiches (already a tenner) and paid another 3.50 for some fries. We were told the food would be ready in 15 minutes. Nearly an hour later, our food is set in front of us, with no apology or explanation. We were both famished at this point, so you can imagine our disappointment when a kids portion of food was put in front of us, 90% of this was bread crust which was impossible to chew (see photo for reference). Also why did I have to pay before my food? Would have done a runner otherwise. I then asked for salt. I was told the salt was already outside. I was expected to go and ask to borrow salt from another customers table. I'm not lowering myself to that, so I was forced to eat plain, unseasoned fries. This is my worst nightmare. I think the pigeons were as equally disappointed with the meal as we were. Should have wasted our money on the chip shop next door. P.S. Artisan means absolutely nothing, don't fall for their games. P.P.S. As I write this, the lady next to me is being denied oat milk in her coffee. What kind of fancy overpriced 'artisan' cafe doesn't do oat milk or coconut milk or anything? i hope a giant infestation of rats with the plague raids your cafe and infects all of you. She paid four pounds for that oat milk.

I went there on a Saturday morning in August I stayed on the terrace and I ordered "Olive Tree Wheaten" the plate was well stocked, it was good and well presented, the scrambled eggs were placed on 2 slices warm cereal bread, the salmon was melting and the salad with olive oil balanced the whole. Inside the restaurant there were beautiful cakes under glass bells next time I'll take that.

Had a cooked breakfast and can safely say it was the best I’ve ever had. The food was cooked to perfection, didn’t have long to wait, was asked what way I wanted my eggs done and all the food was freshly made. The meat products were locally produced and the potato bread and soda bread was homemade. There were a varied selection of homemade scones, cakes, pastries on display and only I couldn’t eat another bite I would have loved to try them. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Bangor. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The food was good value for money. The establishment was clean, tidy and bright and airy. I recommend the Olive Tree Artisan Cafe as a must to everyone.

Such a lovely little place. Coffee cake to die for and last time I tried the granola bowl- yummy and then some. Cherry scones packed with cherries. Lovely staff and a favourite place of mine to meet friends over a coffee and a snack.
