This place has really nice food, friendly and helpful staff and a nice atmosphere. I would definitely recommend going here to others.
As a LUNCH venue, and downstairs only, the Phoenix is worth a visit. Started serving food very recently, so empty of customers inside apart from two or three local regulars in for their afternoon pint. The food is decent, prices are as expected for the area. Seating is comfortable. Free WiFi works. Decor is fashionable dark green and wood brown, with some fancy lighting fixtures above, the overall feel is upmarket. A great improvement compared to the run-down beer hole it was before the renovations. The transformation is similar to that of the Ben Madigan (ex the Westland?) that happened some years ago. I have not been to the upstairs part.
Possibly the worst service I have ever experienced. Bartender poured our Guinness and disappeared for a cigarette break without taking our food order. We were about to leave, but she came back (smelling strongly of cigarette smoke) but anyway, we decided to stay...support local and all that. To make things even worse, we were overcharged. When we asked her to rectify the situation, she slapped some cash on the counter minus any apology. Needless to say, we will not rush back.
Lovely bar with a real community feel. As a non-local I felt so welcome and all the staff from the bouncers to the bar men & women were so friendly and warm! Great Guinness too! Dj on Saturday nights with brilliant crowd-pleasers! Can’t wait to go back!
Just dropped in tonight to check out the place. So impressed. Decided to stay to eat. Kitchen had closed but our lovely, friendly server, Jane went to the kitchen and got our order in before the ovens and fryers had shut down. Had the burger and it was perfect. Even got a tour of the upstairs diner/ would be nightclub area. This is such a boost for North Belfast ; classy, local and friendly service. What more could you ask for ? Check out Criterion Bar in Carlisle Circus! Free trad night on Thursday . Great music and same vibe for decor ( might be the same designer) cosy vibes ! Both venues deserve to do well ; big investment . Get out and support them . Lovely chilled night Would highly recommend both places

We visited Belfast from 16th August til 19th August and were staying a few doors along from the Phoenix bar. Heard there was a karaoke on on the Saturday night and decided to join them. They were very friendly and had an amazing night with local people. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Cant comment on the food because we never had any x
