it's in a bit of a weird spot, but the food is absolutely delicious! I had the beef rib and the meat was literally falling off that bone and tasted so good. Green beans were amazing with the stew over them. It may look a little odd and out of the way, but it's most certainly worth the trip!!
The food just ain’t the same anymore. The picture included is the food we didn’t eat, all the fried food tastes of fish…. Such a shame
Sadly, Proper Greek is no longer Proper Greek. It looks like the original staff are gone, and the proper Greek food, as seen in photos, doesn't exist anymore. It is now called Greek Streets and I think it's run by the pub's management team directly. Either way, the food was below average at best. The gyros was edible with a good portion size, but it was missing so much that makes a real gyros. The calamari, sadly, was the formed-squid-rings type. They were super dense and I would not recommend them. The honey halloumi was well-cooked, though, and was easily the best of the dishes. The staff were friendly and polite, and they also served the food quickly. My expectations were higher here due to the reviews and the original food and menus. As a quick bite, it does the job, but we just didn't enjoy this meal compared to other gyros and Greek food places, vans, and pub food.
First visit didn’t disappoint. Located in grounds of The Bird in the Hand, great to see businesses helping each other. Proper Greek has it’s own take-away facility, lovely freshly cooked food, friendly service and as it was raining we were grateful to eat in the pub. Plenty of outside seating if weather permits.

Incredible food – generous portions, freshly cooked and super tasty. We’ve recently moved to Hayle from Bristol, where we regularly ordered Greek food, so were excited to try Proper Greek – we weren’t disappointed! Will definitely be ordering again.
Very tasty - would love to have worked my through the whole menu but in the end the meze selection box, xoirino gyros and tzoutzoukakia provided lots to enjoy in short space of time that we were in Cornwall. Bravo Proper Greek!
Beautiful fresh home cooked food. The lady had everything ready at the door for the stated time . No complaints I would definitely order again.
