The Rising Sun is by far the best pub in the Kingsand/Cawsand area. It’s a family run Free House and the warmth of their welcome is one of the first things you notice and, extraordinarily, the friendliness of the locals who frequent the Rising Sun. The food never fails to be outstanding (thanks to Sally & Paul) and the service from Nikki, Monica and Micheal (the owner) at the bar is always swift, friendly and welcoming. The Rising Sun is a true ‘local’ that creates its own friendly a family atmosphere unlike any of the more ‘touristy’ pubs on the Rame peninsula.

Had a meal there last night on our first night of a week's stay and stayed for the live music after. Food was delicious and straight away we saw how great the staff were. Attentive, friendly and very good at their job. Then the evening got better and better! The pub was already busy, and it's a proper pub, great atmosphere, laughter ringing around, and bar staff fully engaged with the customers. We were made to feel very welcome straight away, even though we weren't regulars. The live music was great and as we settled in for a wonderful night a large birthday group turned up, all dressed in 1970's hippy gear! Fair to say we had a memorable night which we loved and can't wait to return ( a few times!) In our week here. NB If you run a pub, send your staff here to see how customer service should be done. Fantastic pub and staff!

Classic seaside town pub. Great selection of seafood style dishes. Highlight was of course the fish and chips and fish soup

Absolutely lovely meal here the other night- staff, especially Nicki and Jo weee super friendly and welcoming. Luke was soaking guitar and pub was packed- great atmosphere. Lovely food + drink and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back!

A cosy, welcoming atmosphere but probably the worst food I have ever been served. My reheated lasagne came sprinkled with grated cheese. The cheese was hiding the hard burnt lasagne which was impossible to cut. My husbands cottage pie consisted of a small portion of greyish mince, a few sliced potatoes and a huge helping of peas. My friend’s carrot and coriander soup was so spicey she couldn’t eat it. To be fair, we were offered alternatives but it was disappointing to find such a low standard of cooking. The Saturday evening guitar player made the evening bearable.
