Great space for social dancing. Staff were brilliant and food was in abundance.long may these events continue. It was a free day but I wouldn't have objected if payment was required. Love to see more of these events.

It's a beautiful community centre. It's very bright inside and it has a very homely feel to it. I love the centre 5* the staff are nice and welcoming too.

A brilliant council site. Safe for small children and amazing walks in a countryside setting although in city outskirts. Lovely surroundings and good climbing frames etc although still dont understand the rationale of removing swings apparently for social distancing when children can all climb together on climbing frames and of course on the ground as children dont do social distancing. They miss the swings and like us wonder why.

Have just attempted to book this community centre within my voluntary role as admin of the group Model Magic NI. The group brings people together of all ethnic origins and religions under the banner of meeting and creating great images. We voluntary and not for any profit and an attempt at boosting a hair, make-up and photography scene in northern ireland which is otherwise very limited. I spoke to the manager sandra workman within the centre who seemed less than enthusiatic about what we were doing and put barriers up at every extra question I asked. At one point she even put down the phone but I rang back saying that it must of been my signal in order to act a bit dumb about being hung up on. I had full signal, so it definitely wasn't my end. We were originally looking at having our event on a sunday date and she told me a church was in there so I switched to the saturday. This is being organised as a free day out to bring people together, however I was told that the room would be £20 an hour to cover a member of staff on a saturday and then an additional £17 an hour room hire which is extortionate for a community centre (which is supposed to be there to support community groups) and we could get cheaper going to a hotel! Even if we were happy with £37 an hour, we would not be able to take photographs within the building! Considering photographers form a third of our members then this is ridiculous. I also know of camera clubs who meet in City Council run community centres, and I know for a fact this stipulation wouldnt be put to them. Then came the question about hair and make-up artists. Sandra decided that because there were 2 qualified hairdressers within the building that they were the fount of all knowledge on hair without checking the facts. Session stylists do not cut, colour or do any invasive treatments and therefore dont a full hairdressing course I told her, and she told me that these session stylists dont sound like professionals to her. I let her know that I am a session stylist and have won awards etc so could assure her I am professional. Insurance details would be needed for professionals too which is something that I would of expected but since you cant get insurance without an insurance company being happy about the risk they are taking on, I really don't think its any of her business as to what certificates people have already proved their competance to operate and there is NO risk to the community centre as a result. In short I have never came across a person on the phone that was less enthusiastic and I really got the impression that she didn't want to deal with me at all. In short we tried to bring people together for a community get together, but apparently thats not suitable for a community centre.
