Always busy and welcoming. Great choice of food and restaurants. Plenty to see in Looe and Polperro. Dog friendly.
Always great to do some craving with a bet and line from the quay side . Park in Millpool car park, yes it’s a little pricey but worth the walk across to the harbour. Here in my video a Conger eel that lives under the harbour wall .
Plenty of parking across 3 car parks with the largest millpool having 950 spaces. Prices are reasonable for Cornwall with £2.30 up to 2hrs and £2.10 fixed charge after 6pm at millpool. Lots to see around the harbour with a small amusements centre for the kids (and big kids), lots of shops and cafes. On an evening there are a number of restaurants. Plenty of boat rips available from the harbour side (we did the 2 hrs Mackrell fishing trip with Looe sea safaris) The beach is sandy and has lifeguards but no dogs allowed during peak season, however its only a short walk or drive round to hannafore beach where dogs are allowed all year round. The harbour is great at hightide for crabbing (we caught around 30 within half an hour) but please make sure you put them back carefully and take any rubbish away with you.
Lovely sandy beach is great for families with children, no dogs . Well looked after clean 99% of the time if you go down early enough you can see the tractor at work raking the sand and people picking up litter and if your lucky enough you may spot a seal bathing in the distance. It does and can get very busy when the sun is out , school holidays, etc, but most people are respectful of space. There are toilets 30p card only that dont open till 9 and a disabled access and baby changing toilet Plenty of seagulls as its a seaside that can be and rightfully so protective of their young
Very nice harbour area, good large carpark on opposite side of river to the train station, but payment machines work on card only and instructions very confusing, with a "push green button" bit there are 2 green buttons!!. However once you have parked successfully the walk down and arround the harbour is great. Many good shops and places to eat both in and takeaway style. Well worth a couple of hours.
Nice walk from the train station, along the river towards the centre of East Looe and harbour.
What a delightful place to visit. Full of Cornish character, the harbour basin and surrounding area just perfect. Easy to park, and wander about. Great fish and chips , it’s just a ‘ must see’ place to go.
Worth the visit but it will be busy in season so here are a few tips. The Mill Pool car park, on the western side of the estuary, is the better location to park. Ticket as you go in, ANPR system so when you pay at the pay stations, on the way out it knows your car and out you go. Simples. £2.50 for three hours, so not too bad. Walk over the bridge and wonder. Few nice shops and arcades, if you want that kinda thing on the way out of the carpark. Harbour side is great, lots of people crabbing and nets and bait is easily available. Try to walk down the harbour side first, towards the RNLI station, then onto the breakwater and beach. Nice spot to go rock skimming below the RNLI Station, on the turn of the tide the waters as still as a mill pond. Watch the tide, it turns quickly so don't go on the shoreline going out away from. The station below the wall. Walk to the breakwater for some nice views and the beach, watched the surfers catch some waves which was cool. Beach is unspoilt for one so close to a town. Walk back towards the town but go right and find the alleyways and roads with all the shops and galleries on. Pasty shops everywhere BUT the cake shop just behind the beach front is amazing... Follow the smell of cake.
Beautiful picturesque little coastal town in Cornwall, plenty of parking and a nice place to relax have an ice cream (or paaaaaaaaasty) and watch the world go by.
