   I’ve been to Abbey Medical Centre three times in the last month to see the nurses/doctor with my elderly mum. On all occasions they have been brilliant with her. On the 2nd occasion the nurse wasn’t happy with how mum was and asked a doctor to come through and have a look at her. Even though mum didn’t have an appointment with her, Dr Clements came through and checked up on her. I can’t fault how they’ve been over the last month with us.

   I joined Abbey Road Surgery at the end of 2024 after close friends recommended it. After over 20 years at another surgery locally I needed somewhere where I would feel better supported and cared for. So far I have visited 4 times and have found the reception staff, the nurse and doctors to be helpful and welcoming and they have given me time and care. The parking and bookings have been smooth. The negative reviews I have read do not match my experience so far at all.

   Moved into the area a year ago. myself, husband and daughter have all had appointments within that time (myself most recently) we have all had positive & helpful experiences. Special thanks to Dr Clements who is fantastic, warm & friendly as well as knowledgeable and professional. Reception staff have always been polite & we have never had an issue with getting appointments.

   This GP practice is outstanding, having read the other reviews I wonder if we are talking about the same place. Reception staff are very helpful, polite and kind. GP’s and nursing staff have consistently listened and heard what we as a family have needed to say and given us great care. The systems for appts are good and the online non emergency requests or sick note/repeat prescriptions is the best I have ever used. The reception area is decorated with current relevant information about services and there is even a food bank. The pharmacy next door also deserves a big shout out, efficient beyond words & super friendly. In comparison to other surgeries I have used over the years, this one is stand out the best. If you need a surgery in this area, you should choose this one.

   I have been calling for 3 weeks to see a doctor. They always tell me to call tomorrow. Their kidneys probably haven't hurt yet. The kidneys are not a pain in a finger or hand, it's a vital organ.

   I've not had a good experience with this surgery. I've had appointments with most of the doctors and haven't found them to be very caring or bothered. Some of them are so rude especially the senior partner. It has put me off seeking medical attention in the future. I tried to speak to the practice manager about the concerns I had and she was going to look into it and ring me back. 6 months later and still waiting.

   In agreement with some of the other posts, yes it can be quite hard to book an appointment and the lines are very busy. I have always found the reception staff to be very helpful and accommodating. I have never had an issue with any of the Doctors, Dr Taplin, Dr Clements and Dr Cavanagh especially have been extremely helpful. Since the pandemic it does seem a bit harder to get seen by a doctor without a lengthy wait, but on the flip side whenever I have been to the surgery it does seem inundated with obese people and people that light up cigarettes literally as they have stepped out the door. It could be relevant.

   Went for a midwife appointment today. Reception staff said they hadn’t seen a midwife yet today, but took my name and asked me to take a seat. Five minutes later I asked if I was going to be seen, they said they didn’t know, hadn’t seen the midwife this morning, she usually comes in the afternoon. So I asked if there was anyone they could call and was given a number to call myself! Talk about terrible customer service, couldn’t be bothered with me at all and would have happily let me sit and just wait all day for a midwife! Now I can see why they’ve devoted an entire noticeboard in the waiting area to zero tolerance staff abuse! I bet they get plenty with service like this!
