Really lovely pub service excellent starters were good but sadly ordered the fillet steak medium it was over done and fatty couldn’t cut through it I personally hate complaining but was made to feel bad about it lady said that’s because it’s medium!? I always eat steak at most restaurants but this was probably the worst, it was a shame as we were having a lovely date night, chef needs to source quality meat and cook correctly..

We were the only ones eating. Bad sign. The food was poor. Frozen chips - undercooked in the middle - and peas with small portion of scampi. Vegetables were warmed up and mushy. Awful. Belly pork not cooked enough. Had to cut it, whereas it should fall apart. No hot water in ladies. In places, the decor was shabby and knocked together. Very disappointed. The only good thing was the pleasant bar staff.

We came for a family dinner on our holiday and had an amazing dinner. The service was really friendly and the food was very tasty too, we would definitely visit again if in the area. A special mention goes to the staff, as they were very accommodating with explaining which foods could be made gluten free and I had a gluten free fish and chips which was delicious!

Fabulous Sunday lunch, great beer, very friendly staff. We went in as customers and walked out feeling like friends. Incredibly generous portions delicately cooked. Can easily compete with top Michelin star restaurants

Cozy pub, walking distance from Modbury High Street. Went there for Sunday lunch and had a nice meal for a reasonable price. My only criticism is that they served lunch with the gravy already poured all over the food, so although it was a tasty meal, it was swimming in gravy which I wasn't too keen on. Much better if the gravy comes in a little jug so you can have the amount you want. It won't stop me going there again but next time I will ask them to serve the gravy separately. It is a popular venue for families so best to book rather than turn up on spec.

Fantastic local pub. They are doing £12.50 on all main meals and free ice cream for kids in January! It was so nice to come in and support our local businesses and see it so busy!!! Great food at good (unbeatable) value. Family friendly and so accommodating. There was a little wait for food, as they had more in than expected, but seeing a local business busy in this climate is great and something that we were happy to wait for. We’ll keep coming back and keep supporting our community. Thanks all.

Lovely, warm and cosy old pub. Great food and selection of beers/ales. Vibrant and very friendly welcoming staff!

Went in for a drink and possibly some food. Lacking atmosphere. Weirdly when I asked for a water bowl for the dog they came back and said the dog bowl would have to stay outside round the back. Don’t really get the rationale for that. It’s just water if some gets spilled. Sure humans spilling ale and food is a bigger issue. As it happens our rescue dog is a nervous pup and wouldn’t drink any when I took him out back. Decided to go for dinner elsewhere.

My wife and l stayed 5th & 6th Sept. Although the proprietors were actually away on holiday themselves, the Manageress, Mimi and her team were the epitome of professionalism. Excellent service, attention to detail and nothing was too much trouble. Also supplied was a healthy and nutritious breakfast. Earlier in the year we dined twice in the restaurant and the same high standards were evident. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning our next trip back.
