We have just had a fantastic week with family and friends and dogs at Efford House to celebrate my birthday. It’s a beautiful house that really feels homely and comfortable. It’s spacious and well equipped- and what a location! Thank you for the welcome gifts and helpful information. We recommend it without hesitation and hope to return.
We love the estate! It's a beautiful place with an oak-tree dotted estuary landscape that feels both ancient and constantly in flux. The cottages are lovely and well cared for. Hugely recommend!
I am writing on behalf of the Haldane Family who stayed Efford House was the perfect setting for a family holiday with three sons and partners and a four-month-old granddaughter. A beautiful, quiet, rural location with lots of walks on the doorstep, very well equipped and with very comfortable beds and lots of space for games and just relaxing. The proximity of Mothecombe beach was a huge plus and the beach hut was enjoyed by all of us. I could not recommend the house and setting more highly. From The Haldane Family
We were delighted to spend a week in this beautiful place- the Flete Estate is stunning and the walks are a great way to get around without using your car. Efford House was perfect for our family of all ages- the kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, as it is very well stocked. The rooms and beds are well maintained and very comfortable. The staff at the Flete Estate office are excellent. The visit of Mothecombe Gardens is a great activity and we spent many afternoons on the beach, having refreshments in the Schoolhouse and enjoying the Somewhere Sauna.
Beautiful place, fantastic views over the river. Very peaceful area of the world. The roads are a little narrow getting to the house, so best with a smaller size car. Excellent food options just up the road at the Mildmay Colours Inn (walkable), as well as pizza at the Schoolbouse and just a little further at the Rose and Crown in Yealmpton (Sunday Roast and fantastic breakfasts). The Chinese restaurant Ming in Yealmpton was able to deliver excellent food very quickly! We spent a beautiful week here and the dogs loved it too!
Had a fantastic day at Mothecombe Beach House in January. A perfect retreat with the fire and cosiness of the setting on a sunny but wintery day. Couldn't be a better setting and Flete Estates arranged everything with ease. Will definitely book again!
The most special and magical place on earth. We love it here, its remote but the view of the estuary and sea is just breathtaking. The service is great. The cottages are functionally equipped with all one could need and lots of thoughtful extras put everywhere. Lovely people, good food at the schoolhouse and just generally a special place with truly breathtaking scenery and peace. We will be back , can highly recommend it!
October at Mothecombe never fails to disappoint - incredible scenery, wonderful hospitality and so much to see and do - thanks for another great week at Efford House, a hidden gem in the South Hams!
We've stayed in various of the properties over the years. The location is magnificent in all cases, sometimes used as film locations indeed. Whilst close to small beaches they are private and excellent. The attention of the Flete Estate as managers is excellent. We'll equipped and comfortable. First class!
