Popped into store after getting hooked on Spearfishing videos and ended up wanting to see what it’s all about! Was greeted and made to feel extremely welcome with absolutely zero knowledge of where to start. After being shown some of the products in an incredibly well stocked showroom I was given help choosing everything I needed to get started. Extremely great-full for the help I was given and honestly couldn’t ask for better service. Just need to get in the water and try it all out! Have also since ordered online which I can’t fault whatsoever, very easy process and super quick delivery! Thanks so much for the help! Will definitely be using Start Point for all my future Spearfishing needs.

A huge thanks to the incredibly helpful team at Start Point! Having just moved to the South West I visited the shop for supplies and advice and Barklay could not have been more welcoming and helpful. I went a second time the following week after having a mishap with some gear and Jen was incredibly kind in her efforts attempting to source a match to a lost fin. Thanks to the teams wonderful advice and guidance I have had some very successful dives in the local area producing my biggest bass yet! Would highly recommend to anyone experienced or new to spearfishing to pay Start Point a visit as you'll find everything you need and a very passionate and devoted team on hand. 7 Shots, 7 fish. After coming home empty handed after my spearfishing trips, my Wife kept joking that I was no good at the sport. Then I took a trip to Start Point and came home with their branded 90 Speargun. The first seven shots, I hit a fish every single shot, I was completely blown away by the quality and the accuracy of it. You will not find a better place to buy your spearfishing gear in the entire UK. Run by people who are so clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the sport and our waters, you are in great hands here. Their gear is of the highest quality and it's obvious when you pick it up and have a look at it, then you start using it in the water and it simply speaks for itself. I've bought their 5mm wetsuit and have not felt the cold a single spearfishing session since. I've genuinely been out in the water for 6 hours in March and felt comfortable the whole time. It is worth the trip to see them in person because the customer service that they offer is absolutely faultless, they really take the time to help you out. 10/10 would recommend to anyone!
Having snorkelled and dived when younger, I recently became interested in spearfishing and coastal foraging. I went to Startpoint with a “I need pretty much everything to get me going” approach. Barcley, Joe and team spent a great deal of time taking me through everything with solid practical advice at every point and never treated me like the spearo-kook that I felt like. In particular, at no stage did they upsell or try to get me to spend more than I’d budgeted for. If anything, they would temper my new-found enthusiasm with “you probably don’t need that at this stage” and also offered a discounted package for what I did buy. I enjoyed an amazing guided day with Joe, and am now passionate, if still pretty novice, about the sport. The inclusive approach has made me feel like I’ve joined a friendly club rather than become a new customer. There is nowhere else I’ll be going when I do need to replace or upgrade my kit. Top recommendation.
I have been blown away by the customer service provided by Barkley since taking over the shop. I have made my own gun with his advice and help. He sourced components that suited my needs and nothing was too much trouble. I have also upgraded most of my gear this year. Changing from plastic fins to the Start Point carbon fins has made a world of difference to my diving. They are fantastic. My last purchase was a 7mm Start Point top. I am happy to say I can now dive mid November in complete comfort. The fit is excellent and the build quality is superb. Thank you for all your help and enthusiasm.
