Couldn't fault them. A quick call and there she was, awaiting outside our house in Yelverton. You can pay with card (tricky to get reception), but we had the price settle on the phone.
Took us from Tavistock to Plymouth railway station and back over the summer holidays. Never stood around waiting as they are always super punctual and friendly staffed. Even during a staff shortage! You have to congratulate their outstanding efforts to put the customers first!
phoned up in the morning and asked a rough price to get from Tavistock to Plymouth. Polite lady on the phone asked for the post codes and quoted me what i believe to be a very reasonable price. I asked if someone could collect me in 45 mins. Car arrived 5 mins early and took me the most direct route to Plymouth for me to collect a car i had purchased. Upon arrival i was charged exactly what had been quoted. Driver was both professional and polite, will be using again in the near future and would recommend.
Up until the other day I had been reluctant to use 4hire as their prices are quite expensive compared to other taxi services in and around Tavistock but I had been unable to book a taxi with another company and so rang 4hire. At first I was very pleased, the driver I had was a decent chap and time efficient, and so called upon 4hire again when I next needed a cab. Today however, I had booked a cab Friday for pick up today, Saturday morning, and the driver (unsure if the same driver I have had before) arrived at 8:36am (cab was booked for 8:45am and may have arrived earlier than the time stated as my girlfriend was unsure but certain it was around 8:30 mark) and I was running a little late and finally got out of the house at 8:49am and as I was coming out the door, the driver drove off. I then waited a little to see if the driver was coming back and then rang 4hire at 8:53am and a lady answered. I explained the situation as to why I was running a tad late and the lady said she wasn’t in the office yet and there wasn’t anything she could do and was rude (talking over me and her general tone and attitude was rubbish) and unsympathetic which lead me to hang up. Safe to say I won’t be using 4hire again due to the unpleasantness of the woman and wish my reluctance persisted so that this frustrating and upsetting situation could have been avoided. Two stars given due to the driver I had previously who was decent - other than that, choose Bernie’s!
Absolutely terrible. Booked for a Saturday night, they got the day and location wrong. Luckily I saw the confirmation text and rearranged for the correct day/place. On said day we waited 30 mins and no taxi arrived, leaving us stuck in a small village with few options to get home. We called the company and were told the driver had arrived, and even come in and asked at the bar - which was a flat out lie as there were about 8 people in a very quiet pub by this point and nobody came in! No phone call or anything. Unbelievably shoddy service. *UPDATE* Thanks for your response but I'm afraid Jaycars are telling fibs to cover their backsides! Firstly, the social club is shut on Mondays so it would have been impossible to contact them. Secondly, if anyone were to have come in and shouted "Jon", (and I had my fingers in my ears) the 3 other blokes not called Jon would have let me know. Also, there is no assigned barman on this wine and cheese night. Please pass this on to Jaycars as it has unfairly tarnished the name of your company.
Perfect service from start to finish, the gentleman who took my booking was polite and made sure everything was taken care of. When taxi arrived the driver loaded my baggage into the car and offered assistance as I'm in a wheelchair. Top notch service, will defiantly use again
