Unfortunately had a really bad experience today. I phoned ahead to see if the shop accepted Gold and Silver coins to loan against. The answer was yes. I drove down 2 hours…waited for half an hour to be told to come back another day when the owner returned. I’m never one to complain and to be fair the lady was really nice. Gold and Silver is a pawnbrokers absolute bread and butter. You should have the proper means to test Gold and silver rounds like a trusti metrix machine or an XRF tester…..not just a magnet. Silver is around £1.15 per gram spot price 15/11/25 I was told that the shop would only offer 67 pence per gram anyway which is around 40 percent below spot price….it’s robbery. Most pawnbrokers in the UK are around 5 percent below spot.
