I was a bit apprehensive of eating here because of the reviews but it is next to the Premier Inn and after a long day of driving, we decided to try it. The server who seated us said there was about a 20 minute wait for food. Didn't seem unreasonable in a busy restaurant. I'd be more worried if it arrived in 5 minutes! We both had rump steak and both were cooked exactly as we had requested, I added peppercorn sauce. The service (order at bar) was warm and friendly and I had a Christmas 50% off voucher which was a real bonus. The house white wine is a reasonable quality and value for money. The service at the table was friendly and attentive, despite the fact that they are obviously very busy. The food is pub grub but was well executed, as I said both the steaks were finished as requested which isn't necessarily easy (especially as we wanted different cooking levels). The tables and menus were a bit sticky but I think in an ideal world they'd have more staff to look after the smaller details. This morning we had the Premier Inn breakfast. All was good as you'd expect but again they were very busy. The cappuccino from the machine is not very hot, other choices such as Americano were a better temperature. Toilets were clean but had seen better days, probably need a refurb. I'm sure if you go at even busier times then the service may suffer as staffing levels seem tight but when we were there it didn't affect either the friendly service, food quality or the waiting time. Hospitality is not an easy job but I think the staff here deserve credit for their friendly and efficient service. All credit to the chef too.

I had both of my daughters combined birthday party in Drove Brewers Fayre. It was a fantastic experience. We booked private venue. I was a bit concerned because these environments tend to be cold first thing in the morning. However, we arrived shortly before 10am- music was on, it was nice and warm, seating area nicely decorated. Host was ready and very flexible. And food was fantastic! All our guests was well impressed. Once the softplay opened to general public, we were not rushed away. I was well impressed and the price was way lower than elsewhere for similar set up. If you want a private, affordable and not huge setting for your little ones party, I highly recommend Drove Brewers Fayre in Newhaven.

Sadly this is the worst Brewers Fayre I've ever visited. Very messy, food all over the floor ( even though it wasn't busy, counted 3 other tables with guests only ). Meat had run out ( turkey ) on carvery at 2.30pm. Toilets were worst I've been in. Sorry, absolutely awful. ( plus point, staff were pleasant, if scarce ).

Stopped for breakfast at 08:45 Wednesday morning 4th Dec it's an all you can eat buffet style with both continental and full English options. Clean tidy with plenty of choice, although coffee machine was a tad slow, and they had run out of hash browns... Only one staff member to be seen but she was pleasant and did well to keep tables clear and was very helpful to a couple who had had an accident with their food. Easy to access with plenty of parking. Bathroom clean and tidy.

Went last night but never again. The greeter took a good 10 minutes to appear and treated us like a total inconvenience. The manager couldn’t care less and was very dismissive dealing with lots of complaints from customers. Both of them should not work there, they are in the wrong job. However Matt and Zara were brilliant and so hard working, they will obviously leave soon as they will become depressed by their fellow β€œworkers”.

The food was OK,everything else very poor. Table booked for 5pm we were shown to 3 different tables,5 20pm tried to order food at bar and told wrong menus. Kids never got there food and by 8pm no puddings had arrived for anyone after being asked at 7pm were ready for desert. It took 2 hours for our table to be cleared . Staff appear to be more concerned about talking and feeding themselves . It was far from busy , so if it looks busy I would recommend McDonald's.

I used to come here with my friends and their children but after today's experience we won't be back. This place has gone massively downhill, what a shame! Too many issues, where do I start?! First of all I booked a table for 7 adults and 6 children, clearly with the intention of using the play area. After a 45 minute drive to get there we were told the play area is closed due to staff shortages. If we had known we would have gone somewhere else. When we went to order we were told there was no salad, no BBQ grill, no pizza, no corn cobs.. so we had to review our choices again, which took a while with so many children. One of the staff made a comment under his breath right in front of my friend that she was "so annoying" for changing her mind. When we finally received the food it came out with such delays that some of the table received their meals 50 minutes after others. The food has never been especially great but we usually come for the good deals and play area. Well today the food was just awful! Burned sausages, weird tasting steak and a bland and boring cheeseless ploughman's with MOULD, yes green MOULD growing on the bread. We were all quite put off our meals and I felt sick for the rest of the day. My friend complained and was offered a refund for her ploughmans. We couldn't wait to get out and take our desserts somewhere else. The toilets were out of order too, with just one disabled toilet available. There was one staff member with a foreign accent who was really kind, empathetic and apologetic and gave the children party packs and toys, thank you to her.. on the other hand the rude barman hid when we left.
