Had a breakfast with a group of railway volunteers. Food was quickly served as we pre booked our choices. Love the railwayania. Trains regularly pass through the station.

Good food competitively priced, in a nice old world atmosphere. Eat and drink sitting in old LNER carriage seats. Well worth a visit

Amazing atmosphere been inside a old station building. The odd train passing just adds to the great atmosphere. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly. On multiple visits the food has always been good quality and service was prompt. Good value for money for proper non processed food.

Great cafe bar, small groups can use the train seats in one part, these are the favourites, but we were 11 persons so we'd booked a large table, nice choice of food, etc, and as its also a working railway station, you have the added views of trains, we all had very nice meals, and will definitely be going there again.

Fancy a trip back in time? Then the Station Bistro is perfect. Situated on the platform the bistro has seats and fittings from the great ages of railway. Nostalgic pictures adorn the walls and there is a great feeling of the old days about it. The food does nit disappoint either, a great range of sandwiches & jacket potatoes as well as pub classics like Hunter's Chicken and sausages and mash. Well worth a visit!!

Really quaint cafe and bistro. Stunning building with parking outside. Inside is split, a standard cafe look but the bistro is a train theme, seats and accessories. Both overlook the platform. They do full menus but on this occasion it was shutting early and we were too late. So had coffee (after our three hour drive). There are toilets. The staff were friendly and courteous.

The Station Bistro, what a wonderful find and It's such a shame we don't live closer as this would be our go to place to dine. So, my wife and I decided to book a table for the Friday evening and wow, we were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly on entering and shown to our table. We were made to feel valued guests. I chose the burger, my wife the beef stroganoff, absolutely perfect, freshly cooked and delicious, cooked to perfection. We chatted to our fellow diners to say we would have chosen their dishes too. The ham and eggs looked amazing! We choose the sponge pudding and custard for me and strawberry waffle for my better half. She says she has the better dessert, but I disagree ha ha. As a footnote, the toilets are spotlessly clean, which is a big plus in my book, which shows they care. So, if you are reading this then go support your local independent restaurants, we need more places like this. Our fellow diner said she is going back for Sunday lunch, good for her, if we were still there we would too, and possibly breakfast the next day. A wonderful place, charming, warm and friendly staff, all with a railway theme. What is there not too like.

Lovely staff, but awful smashed avocado. Partner ordered the junior breakfast which she enjoyed. I ordered the smashed avocado. Immediately there was an awful aftertaste, bitter, sour. Tasted off. The waitress was extremely apologetic and went to get me another, by which point my stomach had slightly turned. Another arrived, and again, exactly the same and my partner agreed the aftertaste was bitter. I thought I’d try eating the eggs but they were underdone and inedible. By this point I’d lost my hunger. Again the waitress was very apologetic and offered a complimentary drink. Shortly after the chef came out to apologise for the food. I said I often enjoy avocados and I hate complaining but I just can’t eat it. She insists it was made fresh, which I believe, but there’s something bitter about them. I said I’d pay for the meal for the meal regardless which I did. But I’m very disappointed, especially with all the excellent reviews they’ve had. Maybe it’s my tastebuds fault? I’ve only refused a dish in one other place in my whole life. There are places nearby (even the Waitrose cafe) that does avocado without the weird aftertaste so I won’t be going back again. I want to reiterate that the staff are very nice and attentive here.
