Had an home delivery, we ordered, house special fried rice, full or meat and prawns, chicken curry and sweet and sour Hong Kong style still in batter, they were quick food piping hot, and taste was amazing, we normally have sweet and sour balls but not any more, as the Hong Kong style was fantastic. This is an excellent option for holiday home takeaways. Our food was delivered perfectly on time, hot and direct to our cherrytree home. Every dish was generous and delicious. I would be very surprised to find better Chinese food anywhere else in the area. You won’t be disappointed. 401
Walk in order and only waited 10 minutes, food was superb and chips are to die for. Will try Chinese menu tomorrow for sure. Don't be put off by the outside of the shop, the food is first class and good portions too. Highly recommended
Disappointed after seeing such good reviews, chilli beef was such a small portion even though it was a ‘large’ and tasted of ketchup which is disappointing when spending £7+ and something I can do at home. We got combination meals, mostly vegetables and noodles and the ribs were dry and sauce less
Tried food from Golden Fish today,was expecting proper chip shop chips as this Chinese is advertised as a Chinese chippy. Chip shop fryers inside not being used. Chips were cooked out the back. These were not chip shop chips,these were chips cooked out the back from a frozen bag,was not impressed with the look or taste of the 1 chip I tried. I was only staying down the road from the Chinese ,the car park could also do with fixing with the pot holes. Staff were friendly. I would not order food from here again.
We visited the Golden Fish as it was within walking distance of where we were staying - had to jump a few deep water pot holes in the car park! Ordered food without an issue, the kids wanted fish and chips, and it was advertised as a chinese / fish and chips. I suspect they might be better at the chinese food though...! Wait was quite considerable, and the smell of cooking oil was really strongly in the air... could perhaps do with a decent extractor fan? Food was not overly expensive, and it was OK... nothing more to report..!
Heard mixed reviews of the Golden Fish, so we tried it on Christmas Eve, very pleasantly surprised. Delivery was very quick, approx 25mins. The food was really nice everything hot and there were no spillages of anything. We have Chinese at home from my wife's place of work, which happens to be a chinese/fish & chip shop. That is good chinese, and I'm glad to say this is really good too. Give them a try, don't think you'll be disappointed.
I never eat Chinese food when away from home but this place was one I gave a try. English fish and chips also served here and they were amazing. Curry was one of the best I've tasted.
Excellent Chinese food even went back on another night for fish and chips which was great too. Young man answering the phone and taking orders was especially polite and helpful. Good job
Not the best but not.the worst either. Looks quite a bit dated and in need of some tlc. Worst part was waiting for our order . Nothing extravagant just fish and chips , maybe they are quicker with the Chinese food. Another customer actually had to ask how long as the poor lady had stated she'd already waited 20 mins . On returning to our van fish and chips were OK enough for what we paid . Staff pleasant enough. The English delivery driver does a good job with helping them out . She knows her stuff so credit to her . Unfortunately not a lot at all in burgh castle to choose from..
