My partner and I came for lunch Sat 20 Dec and we always love the atmosphere and how the pub is presented. Obviously Christians decorations were around and looked amazing, especially with the log fire!! But, very disappointingly our meal was not so good! I chose the turkey breast wrapped I parma ham, with stuffing, and roast potatoes with root veg. When it appeared the stuffing was round, looked like a plastic disc, some of the veg and potatoes were too hard to cut through. The turkey was dry and although I managed to eat some of it, was grateful we had water, which helped! My partner chose the Inn's steak & ale pie which too, proved difficult to eat. The staff, as always, are most friendly and I wished when our waitress asked "is everything ok?", I should have told her but didn't! When we got home, we both felt 'poorly' and needed the toilet. We do like visiting, the food hasn't always been up to expectations but this will make us hesitate as to when we visit again. Sad because it is such a lovely in, friendly staff who welcome our dog as well as us. But could you please just check over your catering services, and quality of food before presenting to customers. I/we are not ones to complain - hence this review but really wished I'd reacted to the waitress when enquiring if we were ok with our food. A lesson learned!

Hands down... THE most dog friendly hotel we have ever visited! Our little furry family weren't just "accepted" here, they were welcomed and cherished as part of the family. What a beautiful experience we had staying - the staff are wonderfully friendly, the food and drinks are fantastic and the rooms very spacious and comfortable (and no, they don't smell like dog - they are exceptionally clean, more so than the average hotel!). We felt right at home instantly and loved the little welcome pack for the dogs on our arrival. Whether you're visiting with a dog or not, this is an absolute must location if you're around the area - we will be coming back!

Recently stopped over in our motorhome.this is our 3rd time here and I can honestly say the whole experience is fantastic.the food is always beyond our expectations for quality and taste. The staff always go above and beyond for customers a special mention to 2 lovely young ladies I think they are twins. They are a credit to this establishment nothing is to much trouble and they actively go out of there way to make your experience fantastic. thank you to all your staff that served us we will be again soon

Lovely friendly pub, great staff, great selection and quality of beers and some excellent food. Relaxed but higher-end gastro that welcomed us despite having been out walking all day. Will definitely go back!

Charming, countryside pub with an excellent selection of dishes. The wine list is pretty extensive too and the dessert menu left us absolutely spoiled for choice. We will definitely be back to try more dishes. We had a fantastic dinner. 5 stars - well deserved. The staff was super friendly and did not rush us out even though we ended up being the last guests in the restaurant.

Hands down the best hotel experience I’ve had in England. The room was fantastic! Everything was so clean and welcoming. The staff are just wonderful and warm people. Food is great! Highly recommend Bears Paw. I hope to be back! Thanks for a great stay!

The pub is set in the most picturesque village, and beautifully presented. We were greeted quickly and taken to our table. The Christmas menu was very reasonable and overall the food was excellent. My only complaint was that the gravy quantity was a bit stingy. I'd go back for sure and thoroughly enjoyed my evening

Amazing stay with friends for a night away. Beautiful pub with gorgeous rooms... Attention to detail was excellent. The food was amazing and the breakfast the next day did not disappoint. The staff were so helpful and could not do enough for us. A pleasure to stay there. either. Real 5 star!

Service was quick and friendly, but 3 stars due to the chicken salad not coming with chicken (?!)... Took a good 10 minutes for another to come out meaning the others had to eat first as theirs was going cold. Also asked for tap water but was charged £4 for a bottle of water. They did knock it off when we said we ordered tap water (the table next to us got a jug of tap water when they asked) but found that a bit sneaky. Lovely inside the restaurant but unfortunately won't be rushing back due to the 2 incidents above.
