Called in whilst on a family visit as a one off and was amazed by the service I received. From being offered a complimentary beverage whilst I waited for my order, right through to the quality of the food we ate. This order was a take out meal for both me and my partner, the lamb was cooked to perfection, succulent and full of flavour, the chicken was also outstanding, both dished packed flavour and taste, so much I didn't get around to taking any pictures of it. Shame though as this would have proven the quality, however I enjoyed ever bit of my dish. I had the lamb chili special and my partner had the chicken sagwala, I even had the pleasure of eating a cheese and chili starter. I would highly recommend this as a take away as it's one of the best meals I've had from a Indian restaurant, I can confidently say in is in my top 3. If im over that way in the near future, I'm certainly booking a table for a meal in the restaurant. I feel as if I've been spoilt with quality food which is a rarity.

Avoid. Had a delivery so maybe a different experience to dine in. So cannot comment on service/atmosphere. We all had bad stomachs during the night. Even though majority of food was uneaten! All the food looked/tasted the same, dark red!!. Dry chicken. Soft poppadums. Bland rice/salad. Peshwari naan just plain with syrup!! I cannot say I’ve had a worse curry anywhere else! Sorry

Visiting the area from Manchester and staying in Newport, we chose this Indian restaurant. The best decision, a large menu with lots of interesting dishes more than most. Service was great, the best. Staff very welcoming, polite and helpful. The food was very fresh, flavoursome, and some of the best tasting I have had. Thanks very much

A lovely place that we visited on the spur of the moment after visiting family. We were made to feel so welcome and treated like regulars. A special mention to Mac ('Big Mac') who was a delight to chat to and really looked after us. An excellent choice of food, including some new dishes for us, and quick service. The food was tasty, sensibly priced and generously portioned. The lemon chilli rice was lovely - we can't get this where we live. We'll definitely make a return visit the next time we're in Newport.

Absolutely shocking and disgusting service. Avoid completely. Ordered a delivery at 6.06pm and was told it would be 45 mins to an hour. After an hour and 20 mins called to find out where it was to be told the driver had left 10 mins ago (we're 15 mins at the most from Newport) 30 mins later still no sign of it so called again this time to be told he would contact the driver and call me back. 15 mins later still no food or call back so called yet again, staff seem in absolute chaos, chattering away to one another only to be told that the order had been delivered to someone else then that it had not been done, complete lies. Already paid by card so asked for a refund due to the 2 hour wait and shocking service to be told there would then be no food and if wanted a refund would need to go into the premises instead of doing a refund to the card! Asked to speak to the manager with no success, eventually spoke to someone who said the order would be cooked and he'd deliver the food personally in 30 mins. Never had a problem previously but think that the business has possibly changed. Food eventually arrived at 8.35pm, 2.5 hours after placing the order, food tasted fine and a voucher for £15 was given but unfortunately will not be used as will now not order from them again.

Hello, I have recently been a customer of Basmati, switching from another popular Indian restaurant in town. The food at Basmati is amazing, generous portions, full of meat, and wonderful flavours. The chefs are happy to add or take away to any dish to suit your tastes or needs. A great choice on the menu, friendly service. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. I have dined a number of times with friends and family, and never been disappointed. I have also had a number of takeaways. Always delivered before the time stated, hot on arrival, correct, and always magnificent. I thoroughly recommend Basmati, try them and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

We have been going here for a few months now and decided now is the time to submit a review. The restaurant is clean and tidy with a quirky layout. The staff are always really friendly and accommodating especially with my dietary requirements ( Thank you Mak and Mo). I can honestly say we’ve never had a bad experience in the restaurant where we have tried numerous different dishes. The food is always fresh, hot tasty and generous portions. The sundries like Paratha and Naan breads are particularly good. All in all we love it and have recommended it to a number of our friends who feel the same. Thank you guys, see you soon.
