The setting is idyllic and the opportunity for boating is fabulous. The food however was not good. We went to the bar to order and was informed all the food had to come out together, not starters first. I had a scotch egg which was undercooked and unpleasant to eat. There were a lot of flies insideunfortunately and in the toilets we had a tea towel to dry our hands, which everyone else has used. I did really enjoy sitting outside with glass of wine however. I would go for drinks but that is it.

I visited The Anchor Inn today for a Sunday roast, hoping to enjoy a nice meal and atmosphere. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. While sitting in the garden, there were two large dogs roaming around that did not appear to belong to any customers. When our food arrived, one of the dogs ran towards our table and attempted to reach our plates. Despite my husband’s repeated efforts to gently move the dog away, it continued circling our table, drooling and trying to get to our food. I have a fear of dogs as well as an allergy, so this situation made me feel very anxious and uncomfortable. I was unable to enjoy my meal and had to leave the table after only a few bites. What made the situation even more upsetting was that staff members and other guests saw what was happening but did nothing to remove the dog or assist us. As a result, I left without being able to eat the meal I had paid for, and my Sunday was completely ruined. I am very disappointed by both the lack of control over the premises and the absence of support from the staff.

My wife and I stopped here by chance, on our way to Plymouth. The service was superb! My wife ordered the ham and mustard sandwich. I ordered the sausage sandwich. The server, Hollie, was friendly and efficient. I asked if i could switch salad for soup but was told I couldn’t really do that. But then, Hollie brought a small bowl of wonderful butternut squash soup out. Full marks to Hollie for her service skills, smile and friendly nature! The atmosphere was wonderful and the restaurant was clean. We definitely recommend the Anchor Inn! The sandwiches were huge on a wonderful bread from a local bakery. They ended up being supper as well as lunch.

A lovely pub with friendly, attentive staff. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Nice and cosy seating areas didn't feel overlooked. Good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We booked for 6.15pm. Unfortunately a large party had booked just in front of us. Staff kindly warned us there would be a delay of 30 minutes as a result. 45 minutes later we were still waiting and staff were very apologetic. The food was very tasty when it arrived and was worth the wait. Decent portions too. Several good options for vegan/vegetarians. After a good choice of mains for vegans it was disappointing to find just one desserts option which was ice cream advertised as vegan but delivered with a non-vegan chocolate stick. Overall quite good though.

Ate here on Monday, lovely food and safely gluten free for the Coeliac in our group. Staff very knowledgeable about allergens and cooking procedures. Service on the slow side but it was busy and a bank holiday Monday. Will visit again.

Had an absolutely beautiful meal! The portions are very generous & very well priced. They have a very well put together menu, which includes a lot of options for people with Gluten, Dairy Allergies etc. Would 100% recommend it to my friends & family. My friend & I had the pleasure of meeting the owners of the pub - lovely people, with extraordinary minds. We’ve spoken about our horrible experience at the restaurant that my friend and I went to for her birthday the day before, and the owners have sent a stunning birthday cake to my friend - which was absolutely magical. The decor is outstanding & very different from everything that I have seen before. They’re also dog friendly! Overall, extremely pleased - the best food/atmosphere in the area with fantastic service!!

Sunday evening dinner at the Anchor. Nice atmosphere here, open fire, background music and friendly staff. Good choice of food, although not all still available. Suggest you book. parking right outside. Large beer garden with sports TV.

The Sunday roast was really bad. Cold plate, (so Luke warm food), tough fatty meat, watery tasteless gravy, soggy vegetables and it was like a child’s portion, still hungry. The kids meals served with peas were just adequate but the peas were over cooked and mushy (they were not “mushy peas”, the chips where dry, the chicken goujons were dry. Such a shame as it’s a lovely little pub but the food (on the day we came) was terrible. I was going to give it two stars but when we told the waiter and the people at the next table said the same he didn’t offer anything, so we left. Avoid.
