What a Fantastic stay at the Downs Hotel... Sarah was absolutely fantastic. She went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. Showed me to my room. Explained the food options and was the utmost of courteous hotel staff there tonight. Enjoyed the food. Enjoyed the beer. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Had the best day in a long time. Would highly recommend this place five stars from me.. plenty of takeaways and food places to eat Literally across the road but to be fair after my meal I could not eat a thing to be genuinely honest. This has to be one of the best places in Brighton to stay.. Sahah was absolutely the best!

I had a brilliant stay at The Downs Hotel in Brighton! Free car parking was a big plus, and the complimentary breakfast was a lovely touch. I was running late for check-in, but Georgie and Rosie were incredibly kind and understanding — they waited for us, welcomed us warmly, and even showed us to our room. The room itself was spacious, spotless, and beautifully presented (I’m really fussy about cleanliness, and it exceeded my expectations!). In the morning, Gemma looked after us at breakfast — she was so friendly, polite, and always smiling, which made the experience even better. The food was great, the service was genuine, and the whole atmosphere was really welcoming. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better stay — great value, great people, and a great experience. I’ll definitely be coming back in the future!

The Downs Hotel is a true hidden gem that offers warmth, charm, and a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere from the moment you step through the door. Nestled in a lovely location, the hotel combines traditional character with modern touches, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing stay or simply a visit to enjoy its excellent food. The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, always making you feel like a valued guest, which adds to the homely and comfortable feel of the place. The food at The Downs Hotel is a real highlight and is consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The menu has a wide variety of choices, from hearty classics to lighter dishes, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Portions are generous without compromising on quality, and it’s clear that great care goes into sourcing ingredients and preparing each plate. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely breakfast, a satisfying lunch, or a delicious evening meal, you can taste the effort and passion behind the cooking. The bar area is also inviting, with a good selection of drinks that perfectly complement the meals. Altogether, The Downs Hotel provides not just a place to stay or dine, but a memorable experience where comfort, hospitality, and great food come together seamlessly.

Wow! Very impressed by my time at The Downs. The burger is one of the best I’ve ever had - I know that’s a brave statement but it was really that good! The staff were lovely also. Shane was very welcoming and Georgie was very attentive during my meal - perfect! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to stay as I’m local to the area but I will definitely recommend to my friends, and if it’s anything like it’s food/drinks then it’ll be amazing!

Visited here after meaning to and never got round to it. So glad we did. We visited for dinner after so much Xmas food we needed a change. The place had a refurbishment recently and it looks stunning. So cosy and homely. We didn’t book on this occasion, just walked in. I would recommend booking if you can especially on Sundays as I hear the roast dinners are epic. If our food was anything to go by this would appear to be true. The menu consists of pub food but it was very well done and presented. We had sausage and mash and a horseshoe Gammon steak. Both were very tasty and really good sized portions. The staff were lovely and welcoming. Very attentive without being overly intrusive. Our server Rosie was a delight and very helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend a visit if your in the area.

DO NOT DRIVE PAST WITHOUT TRYING THIS PUB!!! Based on previous perceptions/reputation-I had reservations on entering tonight. WOW was i wrong!! Revamped, refreshing, highly finished, bright and friendly with a seaside nautical theme decor throughout welcomed you on entry. Staffed could not do enough to ensure we were comfortable. Bringing out a container for my son to mess free enjoy his recently brought toy from Brighton ( giving mum and dad a stress/worry free experience of brining it in to keep him entertained) Rosie, Lauren, Louisa and Laura deserve special shout outs for delivering exceptional service, extremely attentive and general chitchat with myself, partner and 4 year old son. Wine , beer and some speciality ciders were a welcomed change ( we sampled the pina colada cider yummy) Food menu consisted to a two sided menu from starters to salads, burgers to steaks and home comforts and some fab platters ( seaford, meat and veggie) but we didn't think we'd manage between the two of us. Childrens menu whilst seemily aimed at more grown up children they still happily without fuss sorted out some goujons with chips and peas for our son which he devoured!! I opted for the Korean Chicken Burger with a sticky bbq sauce and skin on skinny fries and my partner a rump steak with all the trimmings and options of sauces. Steak was cooked to perfection for a rump steak!!! - and i asked for more of the yummy sweet n sour red onion garnish and it was no trouble at all. If only we had room for pudding we'd definitely try the bread and butter pudding with a jug of creamy custard! Next time.... We live in Eastbourne but we will definitely be back!!!

Writing the review at the time of just finished our fantastic pub meal , we are staying in a modern double room for 1 night with a lovely view of the Sussex downs. The meal was of high quality with a pleasure on the pallet , we had the fish meals . We had 3 courses and all courses are to of a complimentary status to the chef and kitchen staff. Presentation was fabulous and of standard to a high end bistro in London. Unfortunately it's hard to find a decent bistro pub with accommodation these days, the downs has ticked boxes here. The room is modern and bright with a large shower room, interior design is tasteful and comfortable. The front of house staff our bubbly and high energy and seems like they are a new team with great morale. Friendly people and I would highly recommend, we travel a lot and will include this review on other platforms. We have not left yet and it's been a pleasure already, we are looking forward to the breakfast in the morning. Top marks to management. Will & Leonie

Fantastic hotel to stay in for the night, staff member was lovely and friendly when booking in, loved the breakfast bag you get for the morning. The room was great, very comfortable bed and I had a TV and wifi as well. Tea and coffee was also provided in the room. The only down side was a shared bathroom but luckily it was to busy and I didn't have to wait. Free parking when staying I did have to charge car else where so might be a good to get chargers instill down the line. Over all its a good place to stay I would use again when I'm next visiting.
