I recently attended a wake for my cousin at The Fox on the Downs, and I was genuinely impressed with how the staff handled everything during such a difficult time. The service was excellent—attentive but not intrusive—and the food was good, exactly what was needed for the occasion. The pub has a truly welcoming and genuine charm. It feels like a proper local, with a comforting atmosphere that my family and I appreciated. It was a perfect place for us to gather and remember my cousin. My only minor complaints were about the drinks. I was disappointed to find no real ale on tap, which feels like a shame for a pub with such character. I was also a bit taken aback by the price of a soda water, as I was charged the same price as I would have been for a full pint of draft Coke. I didn't expect it to be free, but it felt disproportionately expensive, especially since soda water is a by-product of the soda gun and I expected it to be much cheaper. Despite these small issues, I would still highly recommend a visit if you're in the Brighton area.

Love to visit this pub for a carvery when I come from Bournemouth. It never disappoints with the nicely cooked roast and al dente vegetables. Staff are lovely and can't do enough. Proper pub!

I have been past this pub a few times and always fancied trying it. Today I did and it didn't disappoint. The food was amazing. I had blue cheese on chips and on garlic bread. Absolutely incredible. The pub had some lovely quirky areas, especially downstairs. We'll be back.

Lovely Sunday carvery, perfect place to catch up with friends and enjoy the choices of three roast meat joints and a lovely choice of veg to boot. Will definitely return again.

What a great roast dinner. I'm not sure what people are saying about the staff but it's lies. The staff are super friendly and accomdating. Highly recommended and we will be back.

Totally disappointed with their service, ordered a roast x2 and x2 puddings via Just Eat. Meat was disgusting and potatoes rock hard. One of the puddings hadn't been cooked at all. Food ended up thrown in the bin.
