Stayed over in the motorhome last Thursday night, had two cracking value for money meals & a couple of pints. Made to feel welcome by the lovely friendly staff. Will happily return again when visiting friends in the area, so much better than driving home in the dark.

Good food, although the chicken was a little dry, but everything else was really nice! Great atmosphere and good service. Ordered the Sunday roast beef, roast chicken, and the sticky toffee pudding.

Went Sunday afternoon. Booked for 8 people at 3.30. Very welcoming.friendly staff. Menu was varied, food was very tasty and portions were ample. Never seen Yorkshire puddings so large. My husband and I had a Sunday roast to share and there was really enough for 3 people. Definately recommend.

This was our first visit for many years and we had a table for 4 tonight and for the most part the evening went very well. The food was delicious beautifully presented and hot and the desserts were equally yummy. The meal was on par price wise with other pubs and very fair considering the excellent quality of the meal. We all had something different off the munu and every dish was highly praised. (Sorry there's a however coming)! However, the reason for the 3 stars is that the 2 'waitresses ' let down the pub big time. One was in a green fleece and black leggings that was covered in what I thought was dog hairs and filthy muddy trainers. The other in a white huddy style top and was in black leggings dirty white socks and crocks. The girl in the white was eating crisps behind the bar and drinking a soft drink out of the bottle with a straw. All of this put together does not put the management in a good light that allows this type of dress code and behaviour. When I discussed my concerns with the manger she said the the girl in the green top had just come from 'doing her horse' so not dog hairs! Nice! When our deserts came, a hand full of spoons were just dumped on the table with out a second napkin. As a former manger from the licence trade my self I find this totally unacceptable and a poor reflection on hygiene standards. Makes me wonder of the crisp eating girl washed her hands. I appreciate we were in a village pub and not the Ritz but if they tidy up the staff even with a basic white shirt and black trousers/leggings and an apron it would look more professional.

Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) Review: The Wheatsheaf has a nice atmosphere, but the food is average at best. The mash tastes like instant “Smash,” which really lets the meal down. Could be a decent spot for a drink, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for the food.

Just had a lovely Sunday roast with the family and I have to say that has to be the best beef I've had in a long while! No scrimping on the portion sizes either! Food was hot and tasted fresh and delicious, I had a treacle tart with custard for dessert and my two sons, one had a brownie and the other two scoops of strawberry ice cream! A really lovely venue with plenty of seating and some of the most comfortable chairs! Friendly efficient staff, great service, nice atmosphere made for a pleasant afternoon. Good value for money too!

Nice welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful country dinner. Very good selection of dishes on the menu and specials board. Quick friendly service in a busy restaurant. Food was hot, good quality and generous in portion size. The meal represented good value for money. I would recommend and am planning a return visit soon.

Portions were large and the price was low. Food was of "average quality" veg was good as were the deserts- meat was quite overcooked and not of the best quality meat. Badly chipped glass as well wasn't very impressive

4 of us dined here on Saturday 22nd January. 3 of us got starters which were lovely. The mains were spot on. Staff were friendly and very attentive. Will definitely be visiting again next time we are down NB: Photos are of the Chilli Beef with Pineapple Rice and the Gammon Steak with Pineapple. Chips and salad were served with gammon but are not included in the photo.

Nice reception. Varied menu at reasonable prices. Starter was fish cake, very tasty. Main liver and onions well cooked and really worth having, sweet chocolate mousse which was a decent sweet. Staff attentive throughout. Would recommend.
