Ordered it via Deliveroo. Food portion was really bad and pretty much a scam. Ordered a lot of things. What most disappointed me was the £8 Roast pork had 5 small pieces of pork in it and then the box was filled with cabbage or whatever. £8 Sweet and sour chicken had 4 pieces of tiny chicken and the box was filled with vegetables. I was really disappointed when the food arrived. Taste wasn’t that good, it seemed like they rushed the cooking. Their special chow mein had to mix of meat or vegetables, purely just pain noodles - another scam.

I recently ordered from Sam’s Chinese Takeaway via Deliveroo for around £52. I tried the Roast Pork in Chinese style, which cost £8, but it was mostly bean sprouts with only a few pieces of pork. This is not good value for money—I ordered pork, not a box full of bean sprouts. When I called the restaurant to raise my concern, I was told there was nothing they could do because I ordered through Deliveroo. I was disappointed by the portion and the lack of support from the restaurant when I tried to address the issue.

WORST CHINESE I HAVE EVER EATEN AND AWFUL SERVICE FROM THE TAKEAWAY TO MAKE IT EVEN WORSE. We ordered a takeaway from Sams and it was awful. The hot & sour soup was bland and just full of big lumps of raw onion. It genuinely tasted of nothing! The sweet and sour pork hong king style was very watery in appearance but just tasted of vinegar. The Szechuan beef and Mongolian pork with cashew nuts apart from the colour of the meat looked identical. The gravy was clearly the same as what was in the hot and sour soup. They all tasted the same, of nothing nice in the slightest. The chow mein was like mush and had been chopped up before getting sent to us, each bit was no longer than an inch. I could make similar comments about every dish we ordered but it was the worst £72.99 I have spent. I do not like leaving a bad review so we called the restaurant first to give feedback and see if they wanted to resolve, the just said “we don’t care, it’s not our problem complain via Deliveroo and see what they say. We are too busy to talk to you dealing with customers that like our food”. At this point they hung up on me. We ended up throwing away 90% of the food which is a real waste. Thank god for Deliveroo’s customer service who provided a full refund. I would strongly recommend that nobody uses this takeaway. It’s got food poisoning written all over it!

Update: for our 2nd deliveroo order, we had lemon chicken, sweet and sour prawn balls and vegetable fried rice. My friend was impressed by the portion size of the chicken. I was impressed by the presentation - it looked beautiful. The prawn balls were great again and went very well with the veg rice. The delivery service was also better than the first time, as they put it on my doorstep as requested. My 'atmosphere' rating is for the delivery. Total: £22.50 -- Tasty Chinese meal for 2 for my first order from this takeaway. Great prawn balls - 10 in a light, crispy batter with tails left on for presentation, with a rich, sweet sauce supplied in a separate container. Mixed veg Chow Mein had crispy fresh veg and noodles in a rich, smokey sauce. Roast Duck Chinese style - looked great but my friend was disappointed that the duck was only on the top layer and the rest of the container was bean sprouts. My friend expected more meat for their money and topped up with some of my prawns. Prices: Sweet and Sour Prawn Balls £8.20 Roast Duck Chinese style £8 Mixed Vegetables Chow Mein £6.60 Total £22.8 + fees = £23 Deliveroo driver arrived on schedule and food was hot. However, we were upset that they ignored instructions on order and wouldn't leave food outside door. Instead they wanted us to take the food out of the Deliveroo box, so no social distancing at all. Great food but disappointing first experience of Deliveroo.
