Staff were not publicly promoting kids eat for a Β£1 ...over this expensive holiday period with every adult meal, but did apply when asked. Food off the main menu great...Carvery portions definitely lacking compared to quieter periods. Hardly any meat and quality lacked. Little kids play area good but..absolutely filthy...please please please clean play walls and play table. Overall lovely older lady behind bar...maybe manager but couldn't do enough to help. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited for festive Boxing Day meal Everything was perfect, for us anyway Meals were hot,and on time, very attentive staff especially DAN,who was βin commandβ for the day? Attentive to our requests, especially since my wife has an allergy Nothing seemed to be too much trouble.only downside was that a TIP was refused!the service being sufficient for the establishment to satisfy them Truly recommended

Having recently gone for a Sunday carvery (which was lovely), we decided to booked the Margam Deer for a Saturday night family meal. As on the previous visit, the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The only downside was they had a singer on, halfway through our meal, which we were not expecting. No complaints with her as such, she was good, but the audio system was exceptionally loud. This made conversation impossible, which was unfortunate as we had arranged the night out as a family catchup. But overall, the food and service was excellent. Would definitely return again.

We had a lovely table all nicely done with christmas crackers cutlery and napkins, the lady was outstanding from pre call for our choices and ensuring everything went smoothly. Food choices were great and catered to everyone's needs, the carvery was all hot and freshly presented, meals off the festive menu were throughly enjoyed. No rushing us very relaxed and everyone enjoyed. Excellent service, spotlessly clean and margan deer is now highly recommended. Great central location, with excellent choices. Thanks to all the staff nothing was too much bother

We came to our favourite place for food. Warm welcome as per usual from Dan, Louise. You wouldnβt think we are customers we get treated like family every time. Nothing is too much trouble, the food is stunning, the drinks are excellently priced as well. The carvery is always huge, freshly cooked, and tastes amazing. I had the gammon, 2 fried eggs and mashed potatoes instead of chips, it was delicious. Canβt wait to return again.

Lovey Carvery on a Sunday. I find it a bit odd that they only have 3 highchairs in the entire building. We had to wait half an hour for a highchair before we could eat. Food is decent. Not the best I've had but good value.

Arrived at 4pm for a birthday bash, 16 people, we all ordered different meals at the bar and when we informed them we were ready the order was released to the kitchen. All meals were served as one with very little waiting. Everyone enjoyed, good atmosphere families welcome, Would recommend.

Lovely food, I have had Hunters Chicken and my partner had regular carvery. Both were lovely, The Ultimate Beef Burger is really nice!

My son attended the kids Halloween party on Saturday that was great and he really enjoyed. I think it's amazing the events the pub is putting on for children and adults for the community. We also enjoyed our meal, cooked lovely and good friendly and attentive service by Codie :)

We have lived in Port Talbot a few years now, and have avoided this pub when it was known as the copper penny, as it had a pretty poor reputation. My wife decided it was time to give it go, based on the pretty good reviews the place had, my expectations were high. As carverys go it's been many years since we have found a good one. Unfortunately that trend hasn't be broken here. While hot, the food lacked much flavour, the meat on offer was small and not very generous, the veg plentiful but either overcooked or underdone. The food wasn't inedible its was just bland. If your looking to eat out on a budget and are not fussy, it's probably a great place. The beer was cold and of good quality so no grumbles there. We will probably go back and try a different offering from the menu, perhaps that may be better, but on this occasion we were disappointed.
