This pub is a hidden gem. The land lord treated me to a tour of his "engine room" and he is on top his game, it's spotless. This is reflected in the quality of the ale his serving. Well worth a visit and I will return when I'm next in Porthcawl

This has to be a hidden gem of a traditional village pub. Genial hosts, excellent beverages and a great atmosphere. Given the last twice I came here , the weather was warm and we sat outside basking in the sunshine made these great experiences It’s obvious that “ mine hosts” make an effort to attract both visitors and regulars alike by putting on various theme nights I suppose given that we were there in the afternoon just for a drink stopped us from enjoying whatever food was on offer A great pub and one I would heartily recommend visiting

The local Parkinson’s group played a match of pool and darts against the Ancient Briton pub team raising money for the Ray Kennedy cup to be played by Parkinson’s football teams across Europe in Cardiff. Thanks to the management and staff as well as the pub team for a very warm welcome last Monday and providing sausage and chips for all players. We will be back to challenge you again soon !!!!

Nice pub with two sides (toilets are through the door in front of you as you go in) and a very cosy seating area. Service was friendly. They do not serve food but there was a chip van around the side of the pub. Plenty of outside seating with a nice view over the green and church. Dog friendly pub and water provided for them. Some parking available in front of the church across the way.

Beautiful Sunday lunch it's very busy & food took a bit longer than expected but we'll worth the wait.

After a walk on the beach, decided to stop off for a drink at this dog friendly pub. Made to feel welcome. Had a cracking log fire, friendly staff and a nice range of beers. Our “quick pint” turned into several rounds as the atmosphere was so relaxing. Would visit this pub again when we’re staying locally next time. Five star recommendation from me.

We went back in this lunchtime after a lovely lunch there 2 months ago. We went in just after 12 and had a nod from one of the staff. I chose the same table as last time, by the fire, but found a black work diary on one table, a duster/dishcloth on the floor, a cigarette on the other table and a empty cigarette packet top left on the seat. We sat down, I moved all the things onto the other table and waited for one of the women to come over. One of them did come walking towards us but turned the television on and put the volume up to a very high level. My husband wears hearing aids so the loud music was even worse for him. He suggested we move to another table, but I said let's just wait to see how long it takes to be served. We waited for someone to take our drinks order. We waited for quite a while, no one came over. Then the alarm went off. That was the last straw, we started to get up. One of the women said that it was alright it was just that the alarm hadn't been turned off from last night. We just put on our coats, got our dog from under the table and left. We were hoping for the fire to be lit, like our last visit, it was colder and two months later, so a warm, welcoming fire would have been lovely. It was terrible service, I don't even know if they noticed we had left. I would have thought in the present climate customers would be welcomed with opened arms not ignored.

Just called in for a quick pint before a walk into Porthcawl. Nice choice of ales and ciders. Reasonably priced too. Table service and friendly staff make this a lovely watering hole. Probably have food this weekend looking at the menu.
