My partner was in A&E 3 weeks ago with (at the time) a suspected heart attack. He registered himself at the desk and from arriving to him getting a bed was 14 hours. We arrived at 5pm in the evening, got seen a few times throughout the night, he was informed at 11pm that he needed to stay in and was waiting for a bed. 7 hours sitting in an A&E chair with what turned out to be in the end a collapsed lung, JUST waiting for a bed. On a positive note, once he got his bed and was up on the Padarn Ward, we couldn't fault the staff at all, they were brilliant with him on the ward. Fast forward to 48 hours ago, we're back in A&E again (after a routine x-ray and a call asking him to come in FOR A CT SCAN because they couldn't confirm on the xray that due to inflammation of his chest from the previous chest drain 2 weeks ago, that his lung hadn't collapsed again. He got a chair on the CDU within 3 hours, so overall the wait was shorter, BUT... He's now on CDU, 48 hours in a CHAIR. Hooked up to a heart monitor expected to sleep in a CHAIR. The staff on CDU could not care less. Yesterday evening, they gave my partner a new neighbour with a chest infection, being sick EVERYWHERE, expecting my partner to eat his dinner while someone's literally emptying their stomach right next to him, refused to let him eat elsewhere - so he went hungry. He's been in for 48 hours and still has not had the CT scan he originally came in for! Wouldn't let him go home to simply wait to speak to the cardiologist who was supposed to come and speak to him yesterday before being discharged. CDU is an absolute MESS. NOBODY knows what they're doing! When I came to visit I asked the lady on the desk to move Sam - to be told no we don't mix people with viruses so he won't catch anything - but thinking back, I visited the previous day without a mask (baring in mind it's not compulsory to wear a mask yet, it's only advice) but when this patient was brought onto the ward I was asked to put on a mask... Tell me they don't know this person is full of viruses then!!!!! I am APPALLED by the care my partner has received in CDU this time round... Absolutely not the same stay he had 2 weeks prior. I need my own heart looking at and after this - I'm not having it checked out. I'm not putting myself through what he's had to go through... If my heart issues kill me off then so be it, I refuse to go through what he has. Next time we need the hospital, we won't be in such a rush to go to Glangwili.

Appalling place. So badly managed. My elderly father has been there three times. First occasion three days in a chair, no bed. Second time, multiple nights in A&E and no blenkets or pillows. Freezing cold then discharged with w a life threatening condition to be on his own and collapsed less than 24 hours later. Now third time, no blankets again and no contact from them and Impossible to get to speak to anyone. Dreadful place.

I attended A&E Easter last year with acute gallstone pancreatitis. I was lucky enough to arrive in a relatively quiet spot between busy days and was seen quickly (after a little nudging by my husband). I was seen by a Doctor, diagnosed very quickly and despite an 18 hour wait for a bed I had an ultrasound the next day, gallbladder removed within 2 days and home within 4. I think I was very lucky with the doctor I had as another told me I would have to go on a waiting list for an operation. As we run a small farm and have jobs I was extremely grateful to have been dealt with so quickly. There was lack of advice re diet, exercise etc when i was discharged and no discharge letter or who to call if there were any post op problems so relied on internet. Otherwise staff were good in what must be a challenging environment.

Apart from being super busy in A and E, and needing to kick people out of beds. The rest of my experience after a and e during as well was a positive one. I worried travelling from Pembs how id get back etc but there is a train every hour an it's £6 taxi to train and no more than £12 train. They have power banks to hire an vending machines that serve cold food in A and E. And hot ones in the restaurant. I never seen them, even though it was busy, not one person made me feel in the way or too much. They answered every question I had. Great experience even if the fact I had to go out was not. One more thing I heard so much Welsh being spoken it seemed just as much Welsh as English spoken. Beautiful

Just wanted to review the chapel in the hospital. Very well equipped and has all necessary facilities for different faiths, especially for Muslims and Christians. The hospital is not bad but needs modernisation. Unfortunately, doctors in general are the worst in the staff ladder.

The care at Glangwili General, from A&E to the Wards was exceptional. It helps with your mental health when attending hospital to be taken care of so well. Especially for a weekend. Thank you to all the Consultants, GP, Nurses, Porters, Kitchen, the new doctors and wider staff for making your place run so efficiently. My stay was exceptional. God bless you all. I'm on a recovery and pray that the service will always remain the same. Thank you

Just wanted to say how grateful we are to the staff in the hospital for the care they provided to my father. In particular, I'd like to thank Raymond Davies and the staff on Dewi Ward - they were outstanding! Thank you!

Dreadful. Waited 5 hours plus for medication to enable discharge. Dressing not changed. Told to get done at surgery. Surgery closed by the time medication arrived. Some staff really nice helpful. Others very rude. Shouldn't be in the job. If it was a private workplace would be sacked. NHS needs a big overhaul. Many nurses just standing around laughing, joking and chatting. Not a lot of nursing going on.

I have been in this Hospital several times and the treatment is first class. They saved my life when I had a clot in the lung and was almost dead. They were marvellous. However I have been waiting for almost 3 years for 2 operations. One is for a hernia that now is really huge and the other op is for a neuroma on the nerves leading to my small toes on my left foot. Both conditions are giving me trouble. I am now 84 years of age and need these operations done soon. I have tried phoning the hospital several times and get nowhere. I’m either cut off or the phone just rings for hours! Have I been forgotten about? I have had 3 Pre Ops in the hospital and one by telephone during this waiting time. When am I going to have my operations? I need to know. Please will I receive an answer to this email. Regards. Valerie Wood.

Fantastic service and staff. Was in for a major combined surgical procedure. Consultant Brendan O'Riordan was absolutely brilliant and took all the time to explain the procedure both prior and post op. Is also clearly very good at his job as post op pain was kept to a minimum and I was able to leave the hospital after an overnight stay. Anesthesia staff were amazing, and even had music playing when getting ready to anaesthetise me, which I personally thought was a great touch and out of the norm. They even had the decency to check if I was OK with them playing it. Nursing/aftercare staff were all great as well. Really looked after everyone in the Merlin ward. All staff very friendly and understanding. Service overall was on a par with private health care where I've had other previous procedure experiences. It's only the waiting lists that make the difference. 10/10 all round. Chwarae teg.
