Hi . This is only a message to family and friends who sadly find there loved ones needing just that little extra support in there hour of need ... My name is Darren and my former work colleague found himself needing help for the want of a better word... He ended up on the Glaven ward through no fault of his own and stayed with them for 8 months of much needed help and support. I visited him regularly and witnessed the kindness they all demonstrated and after many assessments it was decided that he should be discharged to another care provider where his individual needs could be better managed . I at no time had a problem with the way he was looked after and he was able to come out with me into the community upon my request. Thank you so much Glaven ward. I will forever be in your debt for the way you have all shown kindness and compassion to such a kind genuine lost man

Been trying to get through to these for nearly a hr ,line kept saying 0 people infront of me so why isnt anyone picking up the phone ? You are supposed to be 24hs and a crisis team for when people are in crisis. My son was in a crisis and needed help and this was the number I was given to reach out to you in emergency I am fuming .A situation arose that could have been avoided if only I was able to get the professional help that was needed for him from you It's a joke this service is a joke your a very lucky he didn't succeed but he did need medical treatment. I will be speaking to a solicitor. Appalling

MAYFLY WARDfor women is excellent with en suite rooms and the opportunity to sit in the courtyard and make a drink 24 hours a day. There is plenty of space for strollers and wheelchairs. DR FADLALLA is professional and respectful of individual specific needs. Many of the staff have been working on the wards for over 20 years. Serge and Sue provide excellent fitness and music sessions. A positive experienc

My brother (who was sectioned last November ) managed to walk out of this hospital and somehow travel several miles home to a empty house! We were alerted by the neighbours , several hours later. We contacted the hospital, but they were not aware he was even missing !! It then took staff 5 days to obtain a warrant and go to collect him. This is shocking , if this is how they take care of severely mentally ill patients ,then the hospital should be closed down! This review has no stars to give!

Avoid This Hospital – Neglectful and Dangerous Care - Glaven Ward - Dr Sivasankaran If I could give this hospital zero stars, I would. The level of negligence and disregard for patient well-being is shocking, especially for an NHS facility that is supposed to provide care and support. A close family member is currently under their “care,” yet there is little to no actual treatment taking place. Instead of engaging him in therapies that could aid his recovery, they allow him to spend all day in his room with minimal interaction. He has repeatedly self-harmed while in the hospital, yet staff seem uninterested in addressing the underlying issues. Despite him having a clear plan, intention, and means to end his life, they are planning to discharge him simply because they need the bed space. To make matters worse, they are refusing to put a proper care plan in place for when he leaves, essentially abandoning him at his most vulnerable. This is not just inadequate care; it is dangerous negligence. How can a hospital justify releasing someone who is actively self-harming and suicidal, without any meaningful support in place? Hospitals like this are failing patients and their families, prioritising efficiency over human lives. Mental health care should be about support, treatment, and recovery - not about rushing people out the door regardless of the risks. This hospital needs serious reform before more lives are put at risk. If you or a loved one need mental health support, I strongly urge you to seek treatment elsewhere if at all possible.

Read this. Wrongly detained. No reason for detaining me. Some of the staff are off putting in their attitudes. I hope they don't deprive me of my healthy food delivery on Wednesday. I'm on a very particular diet outside of the ward which is very healthy for instance I eat spirulina, pistachios, goji berries and chia seeds off hospital and so far haven't been able to go for a single walk. Usually off the ward I go for at least three walks a day and am very active. This feels like thorough time wasting the illiterate opinion to detain me was completely wrong and unjust. Also haven't been able to get sunlight for a week now.

Not very well managed in past experiences and still in the same situation I have been for 8-10 years with the same outcome, being sectioned by a court of law due to other people making me mentally unwell. No logical sense at all. But I am illogical? Okay yeah I think I get it now.... let’s let nasty people who can afford to pay off to get “fixed” and send the people with nothing into a concentration camp, talk about trying times. Personal experiences expressed here only. But you’re not allowed to smoke because it’s against the law, yet people have been smoking for an eternity. No sense within the system and then they all wonder why people become dependent on a fix.... or can’t cope in reality. There is not enough communication done face to face. There is not enough support. When you say no, they do it anyway. So you literally have to sit, comply and behave like an animal would do to be trained how to be a good boy or girl when in fact you just need some guidance not a hospital bed when you have a home round the corner. Illogical!!! Wasting money on something/someone who does not wish to have or be in you’re care any longer because there have been too many mess ups within their own system. Half the time they can’t even get you’re name correct. Or even realise you are there.

V.BAD , left alone whilst they get up to all sorts and I mean all sorts !! They write terrible , slanderous reports on you .With the help of a solicitor I saw my records which were in an awful mess . Badly Kept , rewritten and full of untruths . If your mentally ill don’t get involved . Suicide is a better option than going in their . They can also be violent but blame the patient, knowing you can’t do anything & they are safe what ever they do . No wonder Norfolk & Suffolk Mental Health Services are the only Services to go to into special measures in the country ,not once but twice . I’ve had a case against Hellesdon since 2008 but their solicitors just keep using delaying tactics & the consultants have got away with implementing what they promised to do as advised by a specialist years ago . We were hushed up when we tried to bring this to their attention at a public meeting . Now the laws have changed with legal aid & what solicitors can do . This they know as it’s now 2018 . They had me illegally sent to a secure unit with only men 100 miles away in a caged van on Boxing Day back in 2008 ,caught out telling lies when the Police came . Leaving me in my room on Christmas Day without food or drink, having to use the basin to defecate in . Allowing no visitors. It’s the worst of all hospitals I’ve ever been in . If your in despair and suicidal they send you home “ they don’t want the bad press” ! They have no understanding of my condition Dissociative Identity Disorder or Chronic PTSD . They don’t offer help or answer to emergency calls from the crisis team . Which I’ve never abused . So I don’t ever phone now . Haven’t for years . Your on their books but theirs no compassion what so ever and your better off without the added misery of not being taken seriously . Your just a number and they don’t care. They said “I was at risk of killing a consultants wife and children , phoning them supposedly on Christmas Day “ You don’t have home numbers and it’s a ridiculous accusation that has caused me no end of problems right through life . They are requesting yet another interview from my solicitor ,wanting to do it themselves this time ! I’ve already had ten - more delaying tactics . If you love someone find somewhere else if you have a good advocate but never expect the truth or any helpful support from this place because they only have malice on their mind . Update found myself their recently, just papering over it to look like a ‘good’ working hospital made it no better - no change , just as bad !
