   A great welcoming atmosphere, good food at reasonable prices. We had great service from Brandon, which is so hard to find even at much more expensive food establishments. He was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and great at recommending food items. The food lived up to the recommendations as the fish and chips were delicious and the apple crumble as good as homemade. We will definitely be returning.

   I have been drinking in the Eager Poet for over 20 years, I have seen many changes and I think the current management and team are by far the best we've ever had. All the staff are extremely happy and helpful and so that makes for a great atmosphere anytime of day or night. They are extremely polite and nothing is too much trouble, I would highly recommend the Eager Poet for food, fun and entertaining, thank you.

   This is the 2nd visit to the Eager Poet for me and my best friend, both visits we wanted to order a steak and both visits, Which were weeks apart, there was no steak! Our visit today was, sorry no gammon, no breakfast, no sharing bowl and no steak! We ordered something which we didn’t really fancy, which was katsu chicken (quorn)curry sauce, rice and chips, it wasn’t the best, we ate what we could and left the rest! The staff were pleasant and friendly enough but sorry to say we won’t be returning for food, disappointed.

   I've been going to the Poet on and off since the early 90s. While it's seen many changes it remains fundamentally the same. Sports on the screens, good pub, good staff, reasonable food and interesting patrons. Today was quiet for a Sunday afternoon with back to back football matches. But just as good as ever.

   Whilst in the area I decided to come in for a drink and something to eat. I had found a warm welcome from the Manager and a perfectly cooked steak from the Chef. 2 lovely ladies who I am glad to have met. Plus a clean environment with good food too. It’s the 3rd Friday of the month, so traditionally quiet …. Which suits me for a first visit, and with the promise of live music / face painting (for the young’uns) / and Bingo for those with time on their hands whilst others are are work during the week …. I’m pretty sure I’ll be coming back. Looking forward to my next steak and chips!
