We were staying in the area whilst visiting family in Hackleton. The pub has so much charm and character. A pub which has retained many of its features. Warm and friendly welcome. We sat in the back bar amongst a group of men (regulars I think) who were watch the rugby. They were so welcoming, insisting we sat with them. The food was as you expect from a pub, and large portions. I would definitely recommend you visit if you're in the area.

Loved it, great vibe, food and service. Hadn't been here for a while but will be back. Homely village pub. 4 mains, 4 desserts and 7 drinks for less that £30 a head. Great choice, value and quality.

Rooby Karah “Roo & The Budz” Eames ★☆☆☆☆
Unfriendly. We were asked to sit in the back room, aka “the sports bar” That was the first thing the bar staff said to us on arrival. We arrived at the front door to see a placard ,it says “no dogs”, so we went to the left side of the building thinking this was the way into the garden and a lady told us to go round to the car park, which is on the right side of the building, up the hill, which isn’t clear at all there’s no signage to tell you. We walked into the bar via the main door as we didn’t know how to get into the “dog entrance” Immediately a local customer said to his friend “it’s says no dogs” Not very welcoming at all. We won’t be returning to here. Much rather go to the cherry tree around the corner. The staff are a different league. On the plus side, the food was good value. And the lovely lady who made it, and made a fuss of our dogs..should be the welcoming committee… she was engaging and professional. Doesn’t get the buddy seal of approval. Definitely not a rovers return Not recommended. Nice village. Just of off the a428 Not impressed at all.

First visit Friday 21st Jan for an early tea. Busy with locals drinking. We were made very welcome and our food was served promptly and hot. Thoroughly enjoyed our tea and will return.

I stopped here on a motorhome stop over. The owners, there staff and all the locals made me and my dog feel very welcome. Food was very good and very reasonably priced. Gt Houghton is a pretty village with lots of good walks

My first visit. Friendly welcome and prompt service, a varied menu to suit many palates. The range of Ales is impressive and I enjoyed my 'Tiger' which took me back to the late seventies in Loughborough. The pub was clean and others were having lunch ahead of us with clean plates being returned to the kitchen. The internal style looked a bit dated for my liking but this might be perfect for their regulars?
