The staff were friendly but I thought it was a running day. Website didnt make it clear it was a private Anything Goes running day. They could not sell public tickets for the empty second class coach. Someone in the queue had a spare ticket £69. Breakfast on board was quality. The serving staff worked very hard. We had a couple of talks from the boss but he stood next to the noisy steam loco so couldn't hear much. Needs a megaphone. We travelled on all the available track and new extension to Leek. Good day but phone ahead to check they are open.

This visit i did not have any food but past experiences have been good. Service as volunteers at all jobs was excellent everyone happy and friendly nothing too much trouble. The atmosphere was welcoming leving you with the knowledge that your day at Froghall was going to be magical fun and care free. Well done you volunteers. The atmosphere is welcoming

We have just returned from the 3-course lunch steam railway dining experience and it is highly recommended. The quality of food and service on offer was first class (the vegetarian lasagne was superb). Add to that the romance and pleasure of watching the countryside pass by and it is a lovely way to spend the afternoon. All of the Churnet Valley Railway team make it a special occasion, being friendly, welcoming, and thorough. During the booking process, communication had been superb - always a positive sign. There is free parking available at Froghall station and once checked-in, you can board the dining carriage. My only complaints were missing some of the view whilst eating and being very full afterwards - but an old railway sack trolley got me back to the car! Thank you for taking care of us and I'm sure we will visit again!
