Really, really bad customer service. Today I was standing there with a crying child in my arms, and none of the staff even looked at me. There were three employees working, but not one of them bothered to acknowledge me or say anything like, β€œWe’ll be with you shortly.” I stood there for 15 minutes like I was invisible, and ended up leaving without getting what I needed. It felt awful β€” like they were working, but just didn’t care to come over. I honestly think there should be at least one person who deals with customers as they come in, not just handling prescriptions. Lately, it’s always like this β€” if you’ve got time and patience, maybe someone will help you… eventually.

I've had Boots burnt into my mind like many of us older generations. Probably more so for my family after my Great Grandfather sold his own west country chain of chemists; 'Bathes' to Boots, before WWII (for those with an aversion to wealth; I have none). The problem with such an 'institution', like Marks and Sparks, is when they fall they fall hard and long. Long enough to for people like M&S to recover (ish) and then not. Boots shows no sign of recovery nor even the intention and has little chance of Stuart Rose pulling a miracle now terminal velocity has been reached. Do not use anything but a 'flagship', main, big city centre Boots only, if at all or if you have to. Their retail selection is ever diminishing and increasingly costly. As for the 'Chemist' part of 'Boots the Chemist'; that part of the shop behind the counter is an involuntrantry and lacking improv' group in white coats. The audience can call out a random word as long as it's a drug and they'll pretend they still have things under control even though 3 out of 4 times, they have no access to the items on your prescription. If you have more than three items on a single prescription then forget it, unless you like adding another unnecessary pharmacy trip to your day. The board (directed by their fairweather CEO whose stalling until his/her next bonus after which he or she may well use his or her golden parachute to land on the next, short-termm, bluechip cash cow) won't spend on any serious and more costly drugs and so trains staff to keep up the Wizard of Oz performance. All of which, understandably, need their jobs. However the local chemist (not Boots' strap line but your literal, local and independent chemist) has come into its own. 9 out of 10 times they can help you. They're small business owners with a single interest to help, have many more wholesalers to source stock from, do not spend millions on advertising and, in many instances, want to be the local GPs local recommendation. One of the first cases of market forces supporting local businesses and not individuals' goodwill. Watch for many more to follow.

I have been getting my prescriptions from this branch for a while now and I have not had any negative experience yet. Staff are always very helpful and willing to give advice if necessary or as appropriate. I will definitely continue coming to this branch.

Just spent 15 minutes waiting to pay for 1 pack of hair bands that cost Β£1.50, 2 staff and 2 customers infront of me, by the time I got served 4 more people waiting behind me waiting to be served. 2 staff dealing with 1 customers prescription and zero customer acknowledgement from the staff the whole time I was waiting. You need a self service machine in this shop as the staff ignore you anyway so not like anyone is going to miss out on customer service.

Poor service leaving kids without epilepsy medication when they knew yesterday when they ordered it they wouldn't have a pharmacist today to do it. Then when I called them about it gave attitude over the phone and refused to give a name like I cant complain to boots without a name when she's the only person in the store and I'm on the phone stood at the locked doors at 1pm......

My doctor's lost my repeat prescription for a few days (long story) which meant I was in need of one of my meds. Popped into the store to see if in fact they had received my prescription. Was helped by a friendly staff member who asked me to pop back in 30 mins and she would have the meds I was short on ready. Cannot fault them, brilliant service with a smile! Wish all shopping experiences would be this easy to be honest! Really happy I switched to this pharmacy!
