   Driven through Congleton many times without stopping. Boothroyd Bear decided it was time to rectify this; especially as this is also known as Beartown. First pint in this Joules pub. A brewery chain of exceptional pubs and superb beers. Lovely pint of 3.8% Pure Blonde, one of four real ales on handpump. Lovely interior but as the sun was out we sat in the rear beer garden. Great start to a day out.

   Visited for first time as a result of an invitation to the open mic night. Lovely pub - really friendly behind the bar, and had a really very nice pint indeed. Music pretty good, (with the possible exception of the bits I was playing). I’ll come back and likely try the food.

   Very nice bar. Would recommend visiting for the excellent beers. The interior and outside seating areas are really nicely decorated and clean. They don't do food.

   Called in on the Jubilee weekend and it was reasonably busy. Ale was ok, wife did not like the wine…hey ho. Nice beer garden at the back with an interesting view of the derelict Methodist church.

   This is a pub to be wary of. I walked in feeling fine, but on leaving, my legs felt wobbly and the whole planet seemed unstable. I can't remember what I drank, but it was dark and lovely. Perhaps I was suffering from dehydration and should have drunk a little more. I do recall the food being remarkably well priced, the decor and ambiance is quite eclectic, but is very homely. I will definitely go again.
