   We really liked this pub. The food is really tasty, very affordable and the wine was decent. The toasted sandwich was a generous portion and enough for two. The carrot cake was equally delicious. We had a seat by the fire on a cood day so was happy. We were starving and grateful to stumble upon this place as just passing through. Looks like a popular local.

   I booked a 1 night stay through Booking.com, what a find. I stayed in room 8 the room was clean and tidy nice bedding comfortable bed, my 2 dogs stayed with me. Highly recommended will definitely stay again.

   What a cracking old pub with tons of character, had a fantastic afternoon/night at the swan, brilliant entertainment, great service and all at a decent price. Stayed over in room 6 and had a good sleep in a very comfortable bed. Staff were excellent all night and couldn't do enough, even made up the coal fire up for us. We will be back.

   Nice pub in a good location in Newport (close to the canal so you can take a walk around the town). Seems very much to be a locals' bar, which is not a problem, but it's a bit of a problem when you walk in and the locals don't make you feel very welcome. Other than that, the drinks were not badly priced and the barlady was accommodating and kind. Would return!

   A really nice old pub in Newport. Absolutely worth a visit. Good choice of drinks with Banks Amber and Original as well as lagers and ciders too. Music playing and a dart board. 3 areas to sit in there is a bar, a back room and a lounge area. A carvery is available while it lasts. Live music and/or comedian for details I would check out their Facebook page. Clean friendly and a good atmosphere, locals make you feel welcome.
