I started using TBE after moving in to alsager a few years ago and they are just around the corner from where I live. They have looked after my cars since and as a time served former mechanic and now industrial engineer I cannot compliment them enough. There are no rip offs here and the work is carried out to a high standard and they are incredibly helpful.

Having moved to the area I needed a new garage to MOT and service my vehicles. This garage failed my cars MOT for a crack/broken left rear coil spring. My vehicle exhibited no knocking, no tracking issues and the steering was dead straight so I was suspicious of their diagnosis. (FYI: I've worked in Quality for JLR and Bentley Motors) I've owned my vehicle since it was 6 months old and have had it regularly serviced, both at VW in Stafford and at another reputable garage in the town. I took it back to Stafford as they're a trusted garage and although a couple of advisories they found nothing wrong with the rear left spring and my vehicle passed it's MOT. I've reported TBE to DVSA.

I booked my car for a major service and charging light bulbs a month in advance and dropped my car off at 8:30 and get a phoned call at 2:30 saying “We have just started on your car, there are load of work needs doing for you to pass MOT, do you still want us to do a major service?”. I booked my car for a major service and didn’t book in for MOT and not being a car expert with no specific explanation from them, I asked them to go ahead with the major service plus the light bulb change that specifically asked for. When I picked up my car, I booked in for MOT plus the work needed doing to pass the MOT for two weeks later. Their book was empty, my booking was right at the top, and they asked what time I would like to book my MOT so I picked 8:30 as I needed my car in the afternoon for my hospital appointment. I phoned the day before to check if I’m ok to have the car back in the afternoon and the guy on the phone said “no problem”. Dropped my car at 8:20 and asked if I was still ok to have my car for the afternoon, the guys says “eerrr depends what’s needs doing”. Maybe not everything’s but they knew most of what needed doing from the major service from two weeks ago as they were written down on the invoice. I phoned after lunch time to ask if I can pick the car up, they told me they are working on it and would give me a call after they are done. I said I have an hospital appointment so the latest I need to pick my car up was 3pm. Then I hear nothing. At 3pm, after failing to reach them over the phone, I have come to the garage, asked for my car back. The guy said they are just putting the tyre on so it would be 10-15 minutes. 40 minutes later, still nothing. I’m sat here writing this. I won’t make my appointment. Doesn’t matter how long in advance I book in or try and communicate, I’m pushed to the back of the queue because my car is a cheap old banger. Now I have just been called and charged for £380.40 for MOT, a shock absorber, a coil spring, which we knew from the major service, plus consumables and anti roll bar drop link with no communication regarding prices in advance. I did ask how much shock absorber and spring were when I booked the MOT but I was told he couldn’t tell me off the top of his head. How are they expecting me to dish out that kind of money without letting me know in advance? I have used them few times because of the good reviews and with it being the closest garage from my house but I will not be returning to them ever again after today. I understand they are busy and the staff are never rude as such but just very business like and shows complete lack of care and if you ask a question, you feel like you are bothering them. Communication is virtually non existent.

I went in thinking I had an issue with my wheel bearing. They were happy to take a look and came back to me within about an hour saying that they'd fully looked at my car and saw no issue. They didn't charge me for this and one of their staff very kindly reversed my car out of the car park for me. Very good, would use again

Good service from TBE Alsager. Took the car with a noise and knocking sound. It turned out to be straight forward that could be dealt with quickly so there was no charge. First time this has ever happened with any garage. Would recommend! Clearly they will not try to charge when not required.
