I have been using Halfords for around two years, including an MOT last March, an Interim Service previously, and most recently a Full Service. Overall, the whole experience has been smooth and convenient. When booking online, I visited the branch in person to ask a few questions. A staff member took the time to clearly explain the difference between Interim and Full Service, especially as I had an Interim service last time. The explanation was clear and reassuring. The customer service throughout was polite, patient and kind. During the Full Service, they contacted me by email first and then by phone to explain and confirm any additional work before proceeding, which I really appreciated. I would also like to give special thanks to Manager Marius and Technician Daniel. Both were very professional, and the workmanship was clean and well-organised, which really stood out. Booking was flexible and convenient. I originally thought there was no availability on Saturday, but after adding the Full Service, I was able to book Sunday instead. The service was efficient, and the car was returned promptly. Overall, a reliable and well-organised service centre with excellent communication and customer care. I’m happy to continue using them and would recommend them.

I took my vehicle for new brake pads to be fitted for £169.00 and was called and told it would need discs aswell so the cost was £298.00 then . After I paid and collected my car drove home and then noticed a dent in the passenger door. I called to complain and was told they would be happy to look at it, Not funny. However was then told its been parked in the car park, I was of the understanding the car park was there own. Not happy at all.

Tragedy, I will definitely never come back, and I advise you not to use them if you don’t want to be ripped off! After having my tyres replaced, my steering wheel started vibrating above 70 mph, which clearly indicated poor wheel balancing (especially at the front). I went back to the garage, and they rebooked me for a wheel check. After 2 hours they called me, saying everything was fine and that the car had been ‘road tested’. The rebalancing was supposed to be done on all 4 wheels, but it was obvious that only the front wheels showed signs of being handled. After picking up the car and testing it myself, I confirmed the problem was still there and nothing had improved. I went back to the garage again and was told it could be something with the suspension and that it needed to be checked, despite the fact that I had already explained to the receptionist that the problem clearly started right after the tyres were replaced. Unfortunately, he kept insisting on checking the suspension. At that point, a red flag went off in my head, and I decided to go to another garage to have the wheel balancing checked there. Right in front of me, the mechanic at the other garage was shaking his head at how badly the wheels had been balanced. The wheels were missing huge amounts of weights, so this wasn’t just an oversight – in my opinion, it was a deliberate attempt to create a problem so that I’d come back and they could rip me off with unnecessary suspension repairs! I should also mention that the tyre prices, even with their so-called promotion, are still around 15–20% higher than what you can easily find elsewhere outside of Halfords/National Tyres. I only went with Halfords because they had a 0% finance offer, but if I’d had the cash in hand, I would never have gone there. Shameful!

Got a phone call as my car Failed it’s MOT because the passenger door wouldn’t open. Furthermore they would have to ‘break the door board’ to fix the issue which would incur a cost. Everything else passed. I have no problem with my car failing a safety inspection after all its for my own protection. However I have never witnessed this fault before. So I drove back to the garage and tried the door. It opened. I told the manager who responded with a terse “it failed at the point of inspection pal”. Again, no problem with that. So I asked if they could retest it as it seems to be working. “Can’t do that pal as we are prepping it for the service (booked MOT and Service). I told him I’d make that a little easier and cancelled the service. I asked again when it would be retested as I’d like to be here to observe the faulty door first hand. The manager didn’t look up from his computer and said “if I have someone spare I’ll get them to have a look but I’m not giving you a time pal”. I asked if I could challenge the MOT and he said “yes, look it up online. No one’s ever done it so I don’t know much about it”. I asked for the number of customer services. A short phone call later to explain my frustrations and one of the technicians went to my car, tested the handles locked, tested them unlocked and said “yep… I’ll issue you your MOT now sir”. Why it took a phone call to customer services to get them to perform basic customer service in store is beyond me. They’ve lost the sale of a service and the lifetime value of a customer all because of one managers utter disregard for simple customer service.

Paid for MOT, failed (no problem I understand cars fail) was then quoted £311 to remove a locking whee nut, replace a lower control arm ball joint and align a headlight!!!! I was even informed by the guy on the desk the total work will take less than an hour to complete. For everyone’s reference this is on a 2008 Mazda 2 not a brand new, expensive car. Booked in with a local, reputable garage for another MOT and complete all work. Less than £150 all in! How do you get away with it?! I appreciate things don’t come for free especially not these days but the inflated prices just because it is an MOT failure and them/ you knowing fine well people will pay so they can drive their car is a joke! As a bonus one of the guys in the workshop itself looked at me like I’d just punched his kid when I asked where was best to give in my key when I first arrived. For reference this is the only bad review I’ve ever given any business, ever. Absolute joke.
